Our story begins with our Lebanese heritage, where sharing good food, creating lasting memories, and embracing cherished moments are at the heart of our culture. At Zaatar, we aim to recreate this experience every day, bringing the community together and introducing them to the flavors of the Middle East through our mouth-watering share plates.

As a proud family-run business, we believe in giving back to the community. Throughout the year, we actively participate in various charities and special causes. One cause close to our hearts is the Good Friday Appeal, where we have collaborated with Sydney Knafeh bakers to raise over $31,000 in 2016, over $51,000 in 2017, and over $52,000 in 2018. We are grateful for the support of our team of volunteers and businesses such as Ena Greek Street Food, A1 Bakery, and Vintage Ice Cream truck.

Our dedication to providing exceptional food and hospitality has not gone unnoticed. Zaatar has been featured in media publications and TV shows, including an appearance on Postcards when renowned Melbourne chefs Shane Delia and Joseph Abboud visited. We were also honored to host Masterchef judges Gary, Matt, and George, who sampled our food and engaged in conversation with our mum!

At Zaatar, the star ingredient is our unique blend of zaatar. This popular Middle Eastern spice mix, made from thyme, sesame seeds, oregano, sumac, salt, and other spices, is enjoyed by millions worldwide. We grew up eating it on flatbread as a simple but tasty snack, reminiscent of vegemite for Australians. Our closely guarded recipe, passed down through generations, ensures that our zaatar is truly one-of-a-kind.

Our menu showcases the essence of zaatar, infused with a modern twist, across a delightful selection of Middle Eastern dishes. We take pride in using only the freshest ingredients, preparing each meal to order right in front of your eyes.
