Reviews of The Artisanal Cafe
"It was an honour to experience such a diverse range of cultural gourmet meals, prepared for the Buffet Dinner Functions Event @The Artisanal Cafe. Greeted at the door by lovely attentive waitresses, directing you to your booked tables, set up to dine, with iced jugs of water... (You also had the option to purchase a variety of drinks from a fridge).. Looking around... The restaurant was so elegantly decorated, with shimmering string ornaments, reflecting off the dim soft lights, creating a serene & cosy vibe. The first thing that caught my attention was the large "Lamb Mansef" spiced rice platter.. Arranged first on the Buffet table with an array of colourful cooked peppers, topped with impeccably cooked tender lamb shanks. The meat was so tender, it easily came off the bone when served onto your plate... Serving this dish to meet, greet & help direct the queue of customers at the buffet table.. with a warm welcoming smile.. was the friendly head chef-restaurant manager... Who managed the flow of customers efficiently & with ease... Considering, it was a full house of fasting customers. So hats off to you! Now for the food.. You must start off with the smooth creamy pumpkin or red lentil soup very tasty & soothing on the palate.. or the Tasty 'Fattah' is a good alternative.. The "Lamb Mansef" a middle eastern slow cooked slightly spiced rice, blended perfectly with the variety of 5 star rich gourmet stews offered... All dishes served, were seasoned well & slow cooked perfectly with High Quality ingredients in rich flavourful sauces . My favourite was the creamy flavourful Steak Diane dish, with the Lamb rice "Mansef" together - such an incredible taste sensation... The side dishes were also made extremely well, the Tabouli & Fatoush salad (with pomegranate dressing) well dressed & seasoned. The dips & condiments, such as the eggplant "Baba ghanouj" (I don't normally eat, but the way this dip was made i loved!) or the"Hommus" dip also top notch.. My favourite was the Egyptian char-grilled slightly chilli pickled baby eggplant.. paired great with the Lamb Mansef, the freshly prepared, well made & spiced Kibi Naya with Tabouli.. The flavours blended perfectly... The hot chips The Best.. A crispy perfect cut, seasoned well.. The light curried veg puff triangles, veg spring rolls, crispy fresh. The herb flavoured Crunchy Chicken Schnitzel, so tender.. All tasted great, along side the creamy gourmet sauces from dishes like the "Creamy Chicken (mushroom) Funghi, Butter Chicken or Steak Diane ". Some dishes served were also on their "cafe menu" such as the delicious Chicken Funghi, Steak Diane & the Spicy Garlic Prawn Pasta.. Giving customers a chance to try these palatable dishes. The pasta cooked Al Dente perfect.. The perfectly cooked prawns in flavouful lightly spiced, creamy garlic sauce, my favourite, so tasty & easy to eat.. To finish your meal at the end of the night, you had a variety of dessert choices... from the custom made "Egyptian Basbousa" - a coconut-semolina, syrup cake or the variety of iced heavenly doughnuts... that the children enjoyed. The adults loved the traditional rich cultured sweets.. such as the in house- custom made "Knafa"- a traditional lebanese sweet, my favourite.. Sprinkled with crushed pistachio... Along side the traditionally made lebanese pancakes, filled with thick double cream.. all drizzled Well with Rose sweet Syrup.. All lovely with coffee.. The coffee bar was open for those who wished to purchase a Barista made Speciality coffee or custom made smoothies or shakes... So you could relax with your dessert & favourite coffee or shake after having a satisfying meal to enjoy the rest of the night. The cafe also has a lovely outdoor covered garden court yard, surrounded with plants, nicely decorated with soft fairy lights, bringing a warm glow and feel to the restaurant at night... Overall the atmosphere was cosy, pleasant & laid back.. I enjoyed my night @The Artisanal Cafe This restaurant-cafe is great for families, large or small group events."
"Tucked away on a Villawood side street, this Cafe is a true hidden gem with an amazing atmosphere and smiling, friendly staff. Open for breakfast and lunch, it's an ideal oasis for a lazy Sunday morning coffee and food. Shashouka is amazing but be careful if you're sensitive to chilli. There's a bit of a bite and warmth that can catch the unaware if your not used to it but perfect for a cool morning. The Middle Eastern Breakfast is big so bring an appetite. The lemon and mint crush is as refreshing as it sounds along with the mixed berry smoothie. Admittedly, the coffee was a little over extracted but we did turn up when all tables where full so keep that in mind. The Watermelon Pancake. Oh my lord, the Watermelon pancake. This, alone, is worth the trip but that's not taking anything away from the Tiramisu pancakes. Enough for any sweet tooth and makes sure this cafe is on for regular visits."
"The restaurant offers excellent cuisine, although there appears to be a discrepancy between their advertised menu item and the actual product served. Specifically, the menu item advertises a croissant filled with Nutella, while in reality it contains only chocolate sauce. This difference in ingredients can significantly impact the overall flavor of the dish."
"The first time I came here before Ramadan i posted this review - My wife and I came here after dropping the kids off at Villawood East Public School which is only a 5 minute walk. Best coffee in town! So glad there is nice coffee within walking distance! I wanted to edit my review as I have now been to the Ramadan Buffet which was spectacular. There was a variety of delicious dishes, dessert and drinks. The vibe was warm, welcoming and friendly. This restaurant is becoming very popular and it was booked out on the day I attended. Keep up the good work."
