Reviews of Monterey Community Park
"I've been living in the Pines for over 30 years and actually attended the high school that once stood in the same space the park is now situated. Around the playground and bbq areas dogs are not allowed off leash but further out, next to the Pines Aquatic Centre, is a dog free zone. The BBQ area itself has several picnic tables, some under cover, and two bbq for free use. These, as well as the public toilets and bins, are regularly maintained by council. Given the short distance between the bbq area and the playground, birthday parties are popular at the park as seating can accommodate a large gathering (be sure to come early to save your spot if you do plan to celebrate here on weekends). Through out the day you'll see a number of regular dog walkers using the park as well as parents with kids at the playground. My favorite spot to have a coffee and just enjoy the area."
"Good park, kids enjoy it, just needs more picnic tables, and more undercover areas. It's great if only five families come to the park, and want to have a bbq. 5 tables isnt enough.."
"Great park clean bbq and good to take puppy for run"
"A wide open space. It can be busy near the playground equipment. A good place for dogs to socialise."
"The park itself is wonderful. Caters to all ages but DONT USE THE TOILETS! I was working with a young autistic child who needed to go, luckily I went in as I felt it was safer and there was a damaged used syringe on the sink surrounded by a pool of blood and the syringe bin was full. Absolutely disgusting and so disappointing that this is where people go to inject. I hope the council figure out an alternative or send cleaner's there more regularly to avoid out kids being injured or worse, infected with a disease!"
