About Lysterfield Park
Welcome to Lysterfield Park, located in the picturesque Lysterfield area of Australia. Nestled in the southern foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, this establishment is a true haven for nature enthusiasts and a popular tourist attraction.
Lysterfield Park offers a wide range of recreational activities, making it the perfect place to explore and unwind with friends. Whether you enjoy walking or jogging, the 6km Lake Circuit Trail provides a scenic route where you can spot kangaroos and wallabies in their natural habitat. For those seeking more adventure, the park boasts 24km of mountain bike trails, including easy green trails and thrilling black diamond trails for experienced riders. In fact, Lysterfield Park is home to one of Australia's busiest mountain biking trail networks, and it even hosted the State Mountain Bike Course during the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
If water activities are more your style, you can sail, kayak, or canoe in the beautiful lake. Runners also love the network of gravel bush tracks that wind their way through the park. It's important to note that Lysterfield Park is a sanctuary for wildlife, so we kindly ask visitors to leave their dogs at home and respect the local fauna. The kangaroos and wallabies are most active during the mornings and evenings, so don't miss the opportunity to catch a glimpse of these iconic Australian animals.
As with any natural environment, it's important to be aware of potential hazards when enjoying the park's rivers, lakes, and reservoirs. We provide water safety advice to ensure your visit to Lysterfield Park is both safe and enjoyable. Our dedicated ranger, Sandie, will also share with you the rich history of the park and what makes it a special place for her.

Reviews of Lysterfield Park
"Nice place. Great to have a walk or sit next to the lake. Have some wild animals living here too."
"Landscape was good and there were so many kangaroos roaming. Walking trail was good and we went across the lake. There are so many trails available and you need a day to explore all. Amazing evening here. There were around 3-4 walking trails. We spotted some echidnas and kangaroos during the trail. The reservoir was amazing. People were kayaking in that lake. There is place for barbecue setup and all. Overall an amazing place to enjoy weekend and chill. Kangaroos were too near the lake side walk. Cycling trail was there as well."
"We took an easy, relaxing walk around the lake on a sunny autumn day. Quite a few kangaroos abound! It's a great place for families, young and old, as the circuit walk is not strenous apart from a short stretch of incline. There are mountain bike trails as well. The lake circuit walk is about 7km long. A more challenging walk to Granite Peak branches off from the circuit walk closer to the dam concrete bridge. This trail is 5km one-way. There was ample parking on a weekday and a large public loo is near the car park."
