"This park is probably my favourite, walk around the lake and you'll think you're in Ballarat or Daylesford (OK on much smaller scale) but so peaceful and lovely. Saw ducks and even a black Swan which at first I thought was fake, as it wasn't moving, then just ever so slightly it moved its head. So much to admire at Basterfield Park, loved it. And because park is so big it has 2 play areas for kids, either side, including one with a zip line! There is also a BBQ and an undercover picnic area while placed throughout are lovely bench seats, perfect for admiring the gorgeous scenery. Next to the lake is also a tribute to those who served in Vietnam and never came home, including a memorial cross rising up from the water, very serene. Beautiful."
"Great place to spend with the family, loved the openness, the ducks in the lake, different play grounds and picnic area. Highly recommended all year round"
"spacious, green and a quiet play area for the kids. great place for ball games. there's a pond with an ecosystem (fish and tadpoles), native animals (ducks) and greenery and a little water feature. the kids quickly got bored though and started using sticks and branches to disturb the peace. not sure if it was the time of day (got there 3.30 or so) but it's more for the locals and somewhere to unwind if you prefer serenity."
"Beautiful gardens with water features and a cross amongst the reeds in the lake. Two children's play areas, both with a good array of equipment and features. Great for picnics and taking the dog for a walk on leash. Plenty of shaded areas and a few benches within the park. Toilet facilities are located near one of the playground areas, and it's definitely one of the better parks in the area."
"Local here, and I affectionately call this park little botanical gardens in the burbs. Is a hidden gem with a wide variety of different trees and thought out landscaping. Great for a relaxing picnic. Does have toilets and two seperate playground for the kids which have both been updated, with a fun flying fox."
