"Beautiful walking track and park in Altona if your want a change from walking on the beach."
"Great park, has a nice playground near the carpark and a few exercise stations. The best thing is the concrete path that goes all the way around the lake, great for walking dogs and getting a bit of peace and quiet!"
"Beautiful small little park. Lake is huge. Two unisex flushable toilets. Playground on site. We didn't go right around this lake, but by the entry, a few people were fishing, sonwe dropped lines here. I see this lake has a few carps. We didn't catch any, as we didn't stay more than 15 minutes."
"It's a giant man made lake that has a good walking track around it. A couple of really good views, but some of it is really ruined by the industrial backdrops."
"This lake was man made as a flood retarding basin in the early to mid 60's, a flood took place in January 1963 which affected the community of altona, as a result construction of the present day lake took place. It was formerly a swamp, which had then become a speedway in the 50's, many races were held here... The lake is named after William Cherry, an early pioneer who had arrived on the 30th of November 1841 with his relatives and lived in the area of altona... It is a beautiful, picturesque place, with a playground for the kids, BBQ's installed at certain areas around the lake, which i found to be clean, and two public toliets... I jog around its perimeter quite often, it is a very freeing, liberating experience."
