About Booran Reserve
Welcome to Booran Reserve, an award-winning park located in Glen Huntly, Australia. This establishment offers a variety of amenities and attractions that cater to the diverse needs and interests of visitors. Whether you're looking to relax on the lush green grass, engage in recreational activities, or enjoy a social gathering, Booran Reserve has something for everyone.
Booran Reserve was transformed from the decommissioned Caulfield Service Reservoir and opened its doors to the public in 2017. Retaining several unique elements of the original reservoir, such as the perimeter walls, bluestone plinths, and central 'sluice gate,' this park seamlessly blends history with modern design. The art wall surrounding the perimeter walls tells the captivating story of water in a local context, showcasing indigenous people's connection to the land and the development of water infrastructure in Melbourne.
One of the main highlights of Booran Reserve is its impressive play space, featuring a 10-meter-high double dome rope climbing net with a slide. This iconic climbing net, the first of its kind in Australia, provides an exhilarating challenge and offers breathtaking views of the play space and its surroundings from the highest lookout platform. From here, visitors can appreciate the water-themed design and patterns within the park.
For those seeking a more immersive experience, smaller accessible paths meander through the playground, amidst shrubs, plantings, and running water. The raised sandpit, designed with wheelchair access in mind, allows everyone to enjoy the water spiral and mini sluice gate.
One of the unique attractions at Booran Reserve is its water play feature, a thrilling experience loved by both young and old. Perfect for those warm Melbourne days, this feature operates at specific times and provides a refreshing way to cool off. Please note that the water play feature is unsupervised and may be closed at times for water treatment to ensure the health and safety of all users.
Booran Reserve also offers two picnic shelters equipped with free BBQ facilities and toilets, making it an ideal spot for a family outing or social gathering. Additionally, sports enthusiasts will appreciate the active sports area located against the eastern perimeter wall, which includes markings and facilities suitable for basketball, netball, soccer, cricket, and tennis.
Please keep in mind that Booran Reserve is an on-leash park, requiring all dog owners to keep their pets on a leash at all times. We strive to provide an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
