Reviews of Gilmour's Comfort Shoes
"Knowledge and good customer service. They spent a lot of time ensuring she receives the best shoes for her problem feet- even stayed beyond opening hours. My mum says her shoes are so comfortable and they’ve helped the swelling go down on her foot. Glad she bought three pairs in the end!"
"Thank you Robyn at Gilmour Shoes Manly Vale for your expert assistance and product knowledge in fitting my wife Gai with comfortable sensible dressy shoes. Wonderful service. 30/5/2023"
"The Manly Vale store has the potential & pre-equisites to be a great store with a massive Carpark & a vast easy to move around store space holding a great range of shoes; but because your staff are so rude-especially the woman who works there on a Saturday, that all gets canceled out which is a shame. This store should be doing well but it does not, hence the scarcity in customers. Up your game, fire your current staff & replace them with affable friendly individuals so the place can thrive as it should. Be Better."
"I remember my mum taking me to get school shoes as a kid. The staff in the shop were always friendly and helpful. We went there year after year, as did many other families as it was a pleasure to receive such genuine care. Move forward forty years and my wife kindly took mum to Gilmours for a new pair of shoes. Mum was greeted at the door with a hand that was thrust forward to signal “stop” as the attendant, obviously threatened by this 85 year old woman who was obviously going to charge into the store with her walker and infect everyone with Covid 19. After being told to produce evidence of vaccination she pulled out a certificate which was forensically examined as this particular customer must have looked particularly dishonest, not to mention dangerous. Once inside mum slowly moved around the store with her walker trying to find a pair of shoes, which must have gone unnoticed by the staff now standing behind the counter, possibly overwhelmed by the Zero other customers in the store at that time. After having to ask for a pair of shoes to try on (no offer of help from staff before then) mum tried them on with great difficulty. Then she tried putting her own shoes back on which by now was a real problem for her having hands and feet that weren’t functioning for her. My wife, who stood at the shop entrance unable to come in (not fully vaxxed) watched in disbelief as mum struggled for minutes whilst the staff watched it all play out in front of them, frozen behind the counter in fear (or apathy) not offering to help their customer! Only when my wife asked for someone to help did one of the staff step out from behind the safety of the counter and help this old lady put her shoes back on. I’m not overly familiar with Gilmours as a store but suspect that the demographic they mainly serve is old people, many like my mum. All I can offer them in advice is that these customers remember what genuine customer care is and they value it. After today’s visit, my mum at least, and likely all her friends and friends friends will be looking for that service elsewhere."
"Would give a zero rating if possible. My wife was just there a few minutes ago to wait for my mum to come and try on some shoes. My wife was there early (around 8.30) so it was before the store opened. The woman who apparently worked there arrived to the store and my wife didn't see her as she was on the phone to my mum trying to give her directions to the store. The worker came out to her car and started yelling and gesturing at her in a rude manner saying it's a private parking and that she needed to leave 'right now' without at least asking if she could have been there to wait for the store to open to buy the shoes which was the case here. There's ways to talk to people and instead of asking politely first, she chose to be an angry and horrible person to my wife and assumed that she was just parking there and trespassing. My wife was still on the phone trying to give my mum directions and they were both appalled at how she was spoken to in such a degrading way. If this is how you treat people, its very sad, as we will share our horrible experience with all our friends and family in the manly area as no one deserves to be treated so disrespectfully by your staff. A simple- 'excuse me are you by chance waiting to come in to the store?' would have earned you a new customer with a large family who needs shoes instead of losing one and potentially more. Shame this is how you run your business. We wanted to support a local business and thought we would be treated well by choosing a smaller and potentially family-run shop. Unfortunately this staff didn't feel it was worth being polite so of course I told her to take my mum elsewhere and needed to write this review as the degrading treatment of customers is uncalled for."
