"Every single medical professional I interacted with during my procedure at ASDH conducted themselves with the utmost patient-centred care. At each interaction I was asked: * To reconfirm my identity and procedure * My allergy details * If I had any questions or concerns. This assured me that each person involved had directly spoken to me, and was not receiving information second-hand. I was confident everyone knew my medical history and procedure details. Everyone explained to me who they were and what they were doing, and kept me fully informed of progress. Every time something was done to me I was informed ahead of time, even just having my head moved position. Everyone spoke to me respectfully and had an approachable, personable, and compassionate manner. Even though this *should* be the standard expected anywhere in Australia, it unfortunately is not always the case. The patient interaction training at ASDH must be very good and the calibre of professionals very high, not just in their medical knowledge but in their bedside manner. I felt calm and looked after throughout my entire stay. There was seamless transfer of care between every nurse, I was only being looked after by one person at a time during each stage of admission and this made me feel safe. My admitting nurse also went to the effort of warming up my blanket for me which was really lovely. I unfortunately do not remember the name of every person who interacted with me that day, but hope they will hear via this review of the positive impression their care left on a patient."
"What a lovely experience. Dedicated and attentive staff from the parking attendants to the doctors and nurses. I had a procedure. I felt respected safe and well informed. The warm blanket comfortable chair, delicious tea and sandwich after procedure was wonderful. I was escorted safely to the collection area where my family took me home. The next day I received a phone call to check on my health. Excellent service. Highly recommend."
"My 5 year old son went in for dental surgery and woke from the anesthetiser very disorientated and out of control which apparently isn’t overall uncommon in children. It was however very traumatic at the time for me (thankfully he has no recollection of it). I just wanted to thank the nursing staff from the bottom of my heart for their support. One nurse in particular was the only person that was able to calm my son down and I just don’t know what I would have done without her. When I was emotional and at a complete loss this particular nurse was incredible and was actually already very busy. I will not forget the kindness that was shown to me. All the staff were great, from the parking staff, the clerk to the surgeon and the anethatist. The hospital was clean and the whole process was well run!"
"I received the best care, starting from information provided and the prior completion of the admission form, i received constant communication and information via email and telephone; i was treated with courtesy, kindness and care from the moment i arrived until i left, the reception staff, nurses and doctor/surgeon, anaesthetist and assistant, were all of a high calibre, i felt in very safe hands at this hospital, i woke up to a nurse sitting by my side, if i had to go to hospital again, this is the hospital i would choose if i could."
