"Highly recommended. The owner js a great guy, super passionate and knowledgeable about his field. 11/10 service."
"I faced a very rude man today at the shop. The door was closed but there was people inside looking at the shoes. I tried to open the door but it was locked. I waved at the guy he opened the door and said”what do you want???” I said “are you open?” He said no and violently shut the door. There was no signages that indicated the shop was closed. Plus it’s Saturday afternoon. When you see the prices of the shoes the least you can get is a “hello” and a “smile”."
"Chris the owner is the rudest most egotistical shop owner I have ever met. I have previously bought a $1500.00 parker table, some shoes and had six chairs repaired last year at Astton. I dropped my 3 Parker chairs in three weeks ago to be repaired after talking on the phone to confirm. He last repaired the same chairs a year ago for 25$ a chair. I arrive with my chairs and suddenly hit with a new price of $80.00 a chair. A total of $240.00 for three chairs. It was not him it was his daughter. A bit shocked I still paid. On my way home I got a phone call from his daughter saying it was also going to take a month. This is also frustrating losing your dining chairs for a month. I called once a week ago to see the progress to no answer. I called yesterday maybe on the chance 3 weeks later they might be ready because I am having a dinner party. Chris was abrupt and said forget it come and pick up your chairs. I said no it's ok they have already been there 3 weeks. I then finally after speaking with him asked why the increase in price? He rudely said I regreted doing that price and said just come and get the chairs. I then clearly said. I already have driven from the North shore to Paddington and been without my chairs for 3 weeks and to now drive in and pick them up find someone else and then start again was A huge inconvenience. He then said he would give me back my money and a $100.00 compensation for my troubles. I said ok and we hung up. That day I drove in during peak hour and realising his shop became a clear way at 4.00 pm. I called first on arrival speaking to his daughter who knew nothing of compensation. I could smell drama. I illegally parked with hatch open and hazard lights on. I walked in and started loading my chairs. On the last chair Chris came out. First thing he said was "do you have your credit card"? I said yes and was glad at first. The process started and I watched her type in my amount. It was only the $240.00 refund. I immediately asked Chris what about the monies for my huge hassles. He said I should actually owe him money lololol. I said for what leaving my chairs in storage? That's when his poor daughter started talking. He immediately shut her down and raised his voice in the most horrible way I had seen a father speak to his own daughter. This then went sour. I refused to hear this man excuse himself again and speak the way he did. I fealt so sorry for his daughter and was very worried I was now going to get a parking ticket or towed away. I wanted my money back obviously and was more interested in that than my reimbursement. We argued and screamed at each other swearing and making a scene while he got up in my face. I said I had also referred other people to him to buy chairs which they did. He even had the ordasity to say why did I even bring the chairs to him in the beginning. Good question mate. I called later to speak to his daughter to see if she was ok, apologize and explain the situation because she seemed so in the dark. His daughter offered me the money and said It would have to come out of my pay on Monday. I refused and said there is no way I would except that it should be coming from the store. Very nice girl. Sorry. Drove home bumper to bumper loaded with unrepaired chairs having to start again next This man made out like he was doing me some favour. It makes you think about the repair job he already had done. Never again. Covid and this climate are bad enough. Worst shop experience ever and I have lived all over the world."
"Run by the lovely owner Chris and his family, this boutique shop I think carries the best quality shoes not found anywhere else. Purchased a great pair of boots a year ago and now these for a competitive price, and Chris provided some extra service. Thank you!"
"Todays not the first time I've received attitude when I've gone into Astton Shoes, but I really don't appreciate being made to feel stupid when buying shoes, particularly when sales staff don't know the products they are selling. Today I went into Astton Shoes looking for a pair of Oxford's... I could not see any on the shelf so asked the sales person if they had any Oxfords to which he replied "yes" and pointed at a pair of Derby's right next to me. When I pointed out that the shoe he was pointing to was in fact a Derby, he looked down his nose at me and argued that it was definitely an Oxford and pointed to a Brogue and told me THAT was a Derby! So heres a little explanation for your pretentious and ignorant sales staff... "An Oxford is a lace up shoe that has the bottom of the lacing section sewn closed and one that also has the eyelet facings stitched underneath the vamp (front section of the shoe). This style of shoe is also sometimes referred to as a closed front shoe due to the fact the lacing section is is sewn closed" "A Derby shoe is also a lace up shoe but one which has an open lacing section (is not sewn closed at the bottom), the eyelet facings are also sewn on the top of the vamp. Derby shoes are also often referred to as a Gibson shoe" "The Brogue is a style of low-heeled shoe or boot traditionally characterised by multiple-piece, sturdy leather uppers with decorative perforations (or "broguing") and serration along the pieces' visible edge" Heres another tip for free; Don't make your customers feel stupid. They will shop elsewhere."
