About Sydney Aikikai Incorporated
Welcome to Sydney Aikikai Incorporated, located in the beautiful Manly area of New South Wales, Australia. As a Covid Safe Business, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our members, so please take a moment to review our plan before joining us for training.
At Sydney Aikikai, we believe in introducing beginners to the art of Aikido in a friendly and supportive manner. Our experienced instructors and senior practitioners take the time to guide newcomers through the basics, ensuring a strong foundation is built. We understand that everyone learns at their own pace, and we strive to create an inclusive environment where individuals can progress comfortably.
A typical class at Sydney Aikikai begins with a 15-minute warm-up session, followed by Ukemi practice, which focuses on rolling and falling techniques. We then delve into the fundamental foot and body movements, known as 'Tai sabake,' before moving on to general Aikido techniques. Our classes can take various forms, emphasizing different aspects of this beautiful martial art.
In our training sessions, we prioritize enjoyment and personal growth over competition. We recognize that each individual brings their unique shape, size, background, and physical capabilities to the mat. With this in mind, we encourage a supportive atmosphere, where students work together rather than showcasing superior strength or abilities. Even in vigorous training, we foster an awareness of our training partners' capabilities, cultivating a sense of respect and cooperation.
Aikido training at Sydney Aikikai is distinct from traditional gym workouts. Instead of linear movements, Aikido techniques consist of complex and compound series of movements. Through Aikido practice, practitioners develop flexibility and toughness, rather than solely focusing on strength.
Join us at Sydney Aikikai Incorporated and experience the transformative power of Aikido. Our self-paced training approach, tailored to your capabilities and those of your partners, allows for personal growth on and off the mat. As you immerse yourself in the art of Aikido, you'll discover how the principles of sincere training transcend the ego and manifest in your daily life.
Come and be a part of our welcoming Aikido community in Manly, where you can embark on a journey of self-discovery, physical development, and personal empowerment.
