About The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners
Welcome to The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) located in North Sydney, Australia. As an establishment, point of interest, and university, we are dedicated to providing a world of educational opportunities to support lifelong learning for general practitioners.
One of our flagship programs is the Practice Experience Program, specifically designed to support non vocationally registered doctors on their pathway to RACGP Fellowship. This self-directed education program offers a comprehensive learning experience to enhance your skills and knowledge in general practice.
At RACGP, we prioritize staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in Australian general practice. Our curriculum and syllabus for 2022 align with the highest standards of care and ensure that our members are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide the best healthcare to their patients.
We understand the importance of addressing abuse and violence in general practice. Our resources and evidence-based guidelines are designed to help GPs effectively work with patients who have experienced such issues.
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we provide the most up-to-date information and resources on the COVID-19 vaccine rollout. We strive to keep our members informed and equipped with the necessary knowledge to navigate this challenging time.
To ensure quality care and risk management in Australian general practices, we offer the Standards for general practice (5th edition) as a benchmark. This document serves as a guide for healthcare professionals to provide the highest standard of care and minimize risks.
We also provide a wide range of resources and guidelines specifically tailored for general practitioners dealing with the challenges posed by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We understand the importance of protecting general practice information systems and offer advice and guidelines to help GPs and practice teams in this regard.
In today's digital age, video consultations have become a convenient and accessible means of healthcare delivery. We recognize the potential of this medium and support its integration into general practice.
As an institution committed to advocacy, we actively engage in discussions and submit reports on various healthcare topics. Our position statements reflect our stance on important healthcare issues and serve as a valuable resource for GPs and healthcare professionals.
The NSW&ACT faculty is dedicated to supporting our members across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. We strive to provide opportunities for participation, quality education, and collegiality within the profession.
We are proud to have achieved significant victories for patients across Australia. For instance, from September 2023, we will be able to write scripts for 60 days with five repeats for medications for chronic stable conditions. This will alleviate the financial burden for patients during a time of high living costs.
Payroll tax remains a pressing issue, and we continue to advocate for general practices in NSW and ACT to prevent audits and retrospective payments. We work tirelessly to ensure that the burden on our members is minimized.
We also embrace positive developments in the healthcare landscape. For example, the introduction of MyMedicare aims to strengthen the relationship between patients, their usual general practice, GP, and primary care team. We are closely monitoring this program and will provide further updates as it progresses.
To improve vaccination rates, we are actively exploring alternative methods to identify under-vaccinated patients who are eligible for a free vaccination. We are considering strategies such as text messages and media campaigns to raise awareness without burdening GP clinics further.
We are delighted to congratulate our new Fellows across NSW and ACT for 2023. Choosing to train and be recognized as specialist GPs is a remarkable achievement, and we encourage you to connect with the New Fellows group to establish invaluable social networking and career progression opportunities.
As we approach the end of winter, we remind you to prioritize your health and well-being. Engaging in activities that bring you joy and satisfaction is essential for your overall well-being.
The NSW&ACT faculty offers a range of services to help you achieve your professional goals. From events and workshops to assist in your professional development to partnerships with the NSW Ministry of Health, we are committed to supporting GPs in their journey.
Finally, we provide a collaborative space for GPs to connect, share, and collaborate across New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. We believe in the power of collaboration and encourage you to take advantage of this vibrant community.
Thank you for visiting The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. We are here to support you in your journey as a general practitioner and provide you with the resources and opportunities you need to excel in your profession.
