Young Actors Assembly - Waterloo
About the Business
Welcome to Young Actors Assembly - Waterloo! Located at 11 Botany Road in Waterloo, Australia, our institution is a point of interest and a university, dedicated to inspiring and empowering the next generation of creative leaders.
At YAA, we offer a range of programs in stage acting, screen acting, and filmmaking that have been proven to deliver results. We take pride in the success of our YAA graduates, many of whom have gone on to establish professional careers in the film, theatre, and television industries. As the Australian film industry continues to grow, we are committed to building a lasting legacy for future generations.
Whether you have dreams of gracing the stage or creating the next groundbreaking film or TV show, YAA is here to help you turn those dreams into reality. Our supportive yet challenging environment provides opportunities that will push you to excel and improve. We believe in promoting truth and fostering a deeper understanding of oneself and the world around us. Through our programs, you will learn to approach acting in a whole new way.
Don't just take our word for it - hear from our students themselves. One student says, "YAA provides opportunities that challenge me and motivate me to improve within a supportive yet challenging environment. It is a place that promotes truth and allows me to gain a larger understanding of both myself and other aspects of my life. I am learning to approach acting in a whole new way." Another student received a scholarship for acting excellence and is currently studying at Queensland University Technology (QUT).
Our unique approach to acting has garnered recognition and accolades. One student shares, "After the Advanced Technique class, I go home and think to myself, 'I've truly learned so much about acting, the world, and other people.' I've been to other acting studios and found the environment competitive, but at YAA, we celebrate each other's success. The technique taught by David is specific and has given me the freedom to make choices in the moment. I recently used the technique in an audition and was lucky enough to land the role." This student was nominated for 'Best New Talent' at the Logie Awards and AACTA Awards and is currently starring in 'The Commons' via Stan Original.
YAA not only focuses on acting skills but also instills discipline, bravery, and effective communication within and outside the studio. Another student shares, "YAA has given me the tools to fine-tune my knowledge of acting. I have learned how to be disciplined and brave not only within the walls of the studio but within my own life. We are taught to 'deeply listen,' which has influenced the way I communicate with others, in castings, and in professional settings. The essence of YAA's acting process is based on 'honesty,' and thanks to YAA, I can be totally honest with myself and know that anything is possible." This student has been accepted into AFTRS 2021 Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production.
We also want to acknowledge and pay respect to the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the original storytellers, as the nation's first inhabitants and the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn, and work.
If you're ready to embark on a transformative journey in acting and filmmaking, Young Actors Assembly - Waterloo is the place for you. Join us and become a part of our vibrant and supportive community. Together, let's create a future filled with creativity, passion, and success.

"My daughter has been with YAA for a year and has had the best time! Even in lockdown, the classes were engaging and something she looked forward to. She has made some great friends and learnt so much!"
"I cant thank you all enough for welcoming me like you have into the YAA family. I was so nervous before my first YAA class - being so new to both Sydney & acting. But the patient and open hearts I’ve been received with, are nothing short of special. Thank you David, and thank you Adam. Looking forward to continuing to learn & grow at YAA!"
"We are so lucky to have a young actors training program like this in Australia for serious and professional young actors committed to learning their craft. My daughter has not only excelled as an actress at YAA but has found and connected with an incredible group of talented, compassionate, inspiring and likeminded young people who she now calls her closest friends. She's been offered the opportunity to make short films, be a part of plays and meet industry thought leaders from here and around the world at the top of their game who guide, mentor and provide practical industry advice. It's been a game-changer for my daughter and is providing a solid foundation for her to spring from. Thank you so much, David and your team. You have created a very safe and special place for young people to learn and grow. :)"
"David and his incredible team of creatives strive to deliver a course like no other! Their commitment and structured approach to learning is such a high standard, which allows the students to feel supported and so much more knowledgeable of their craft. It is a safe environment to explore vulnerability, which is a major part of the acting experience. I'm so proud to be a part of Young Actors Assembly and hope that others can enjoy the same opportunity!"
"David and his team are the most committed professionals and provide an incredible learning experience for the people all ages who they work with. I would highly recommend YAA for anyone who is looking to grow and develop their acting skills. You could not be in better hands!"
