Swiss Club of Victoria
About the Business
Welcome to the Swiss Club of Victoria, located in the heart of Melbourne on Flinders Lane. Established in 1899, our club was created to provide a gathering place for Swiss migrants, allowing them to maintain a connection with their homeland and preserve their cultural and linguistic heritage.
Our club is housed in a stunning building that exemplifies early twentieth-century American Romanesque architecture. Spanning two floors, the club offers excellent facilities, including a restaurant on the first floor and a modern and stylish function venue on the second floor. This versatile space is perfect for our interest groups, as well as private and corporate functions.
Throughout the year, the Swiss Club and its various interest groups organize a wide range of events and functions. From family picnics and hiking trips to sports events and gala dinners, there is always something happening at the club. We also celebrate Swiss National Day and host cultural activities such as Jass, dancing, and yodeling.
Our club caters to all age groups, with activities and programs designed specifically for SwissKids, school children, and senior members. In fact, our membership is diverse, with about 40% of our members coming from non-Swiss backgrounds. Everyone is welcome to join our friendly and inclusive community.
By becoming a member of the Swiss Club of Victoria, you are not only joining a community, but also supporting the continuation of our traditions for the next hundred years. Membership fees contribute towards organizing functions, events, and covering the costs of running the club and maintaining our beautiful building.
Join us today and experience the warmth and camaraderie of our Swiss community in Victoria. Whether you are Swiss or simply have an affinity for Swiss culture, we invite you to be part of our vibrant and welcoming club.

"Went and saw Cal Wilson as part of the Melbourne international comedy festival, the room we were in was hard to see past the first rows. Not really an ideal place for an event like this, plus way too many flights of stairs."
"The lobster bisque was creamy and the taste so good. Came here for the cheese fondue with my cousin, strong flavor of the blue cheese, we’ve got the bread refilled couple of time, we’re so stuffed after it. Staff was friendly, service was great."
"The food at the Swiss Club is generally good but I have to say that today it was a disappointment. I ordered pan fried flathead fillets with lemon butter and chips. The fish was great but the chips were lousy. First it was a ridiculously small serve and given that potatoes are so cheap, it's hard to understand why they were so stingy. Second they were over cooked. I complained and got an additional bowl of chips but, as you can see in the photos, even the second serving was a mingy serve. I wasn't full at all so I had to attack the salad bar. The side salad became a major one. On a plus the ambiance of the Swiss club is always good and the serving staff was very friendly and provided good service."
"as always, food at swiss club does not disappoint. we had scallops with rice, chicken snitzel, kartofflen salad, bratwurst, garden salad, which was all very yummy. but service was a bit lax, not up to par as usual."
