About the Business
Welcome to Prince Alfred Park, a vibrant and dynamic establishment located in the heart of Surry Hills, Australia. Situated on Chalmers Street, right next to Central station, this 7.5 hectare park is a true oasis in the bustling cityscape.
Prince Alfred Park offers an abundance of green space, making it the perfect place to escape the urban hustle and immerse yourself in nature. Whether you're looking for a peaceful spot to relax and unwind or seeking recreational activities, this park has it all.
One of the highlights of Prince Alfred Park is its outdoor pool, providing a refreshing escape during the hot Australian summers. The pool is complemented by a range of sports courts, including tennis and basketball, allowing visitors to engage in friendly competition or simply enjoy some exercise.
For families with children, Prince Alfred Park boasts well-designed playgrounds where little ones can unleash their energy and have endless fun. Additionally, fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the park's well-maintained fitness equipment, providing the opportunity for a satisfying workout amidst the picturesque surroundings.
At Prince Alfred Park, we are committed to continuously improving the facilities for our visitors. We have recently undertaken temporary measures to enhance the park, such as treating the turf and cleaning the iconic rainbow path. However, we are now embarking on more significant repairs to ensure a top-notch experience for all park-goers.
To minimize disruption, the returfing process will be carried out in sections, allowing people to still enjoy the park throughout the renovation period. Each stage will take approximately 7 weeks to complete, and we anticipate this process to occur between January and June 2023.
In addition to its recreational offerings, Prince Alfred Park features barbecue and picnic areas equipped with custom-designed tables and seating. These areas are perfect for gatherings with friends and family, where you can savor delicious meals while basking in the park's serene atmosphere.
As you explore the park, be sure to follow the rainbow path, leading you to Equality Green. This section of Prince Alfred Park was renamed in 2017 to commemorate the historic legalization of marriage equality in Australia. It serves as a symbol of inclusivity and celebration of love.
Whether you're seeking relaxation, recreation, or a place to connect with loved ones, Prince Alfred Park is the ideal destination. With its lush greenery, diverse facilities, and ongoing commitment to improvement, this institution invites you to experience the best of Australia's outdoor lifestyle.

"Fantastic place for dogs, which is exactly why we should’ve planned better, as we decided to have a picnic here. Many dogs came up to our picnic and showed immense interest in our chicken. Some more polite than others. It’s our fault for having a picnic at a place with so many dogs, but it was an endearing experience. Great bike paths and basketball courts too."
"Park right next to central station, easy to get to from any Sydney suburb. 2x free for all full basketball courts, paid tennis courts and spacious fields all fairly in good conditions. The courts could use some improvement like repaint/level the cements and possibly one court with some sort of roof so it can still be used when it rains."
"Nice pretty place to chill or have a gathering Can cool off with Pool is right beside park Dog friendly!! many locals ther enjoying the walk & open green grass scenary basketball court within park Aswell"
"My daughter loves this place. It's very close to Central. From a kids play perspective it has a big wide slide, swings, see-saw, etc. There is also a mini park at the entrance with a wooden boat and an elephant shaped slide. Rainbow road is a highlight. There are benches available to sit. Overall a nice place to easily spend 2-3 hours. It's well maintained as well. Must visit !!"
