Welcome to Macquarie Performing Arts, located in West Ryde, Australia. Our institution is dedicated to providing students of all levels with more than just dance classes. We strive to offer a unique experience where students can grow both mentally and physically as dancers in a safe and nurturing environment.

At Macquarie Performing Arts, our highly trained and certified instructors have a wealth of experience in teaching and performing various styles and genres. They are passionate about helping students develop their skills and reach their full potential. Additionally, all staff members have a current Working With Children Check, ensuring the safety and well-being of our students.

Established in 1991 by the Principals, Lisa-Maree & Elizabeth Derby, Macquarie Performing Arts offers a happy and friendly environment for children to thrive in, while maintaining a professional and disciplined approach. We believe that dance not only brings joy but also promotes well-rounded and confident individuals.

Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to further your training, we have classes to suit everyone. From Pre School Combo Classes to the Advanced Pre Professional level, we offer training in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and AcroDance. All of our classes promote coordination, confidence, and physical development.

We are proud to say that a selection of our students compete at Dance Competitions, with many going on to win in the Sydney Regional and Australian National Finals. Macquarie Performing Arts has produced numerous Australian National Title winners in Solo, Duo/Trio, and Group sections. Our commitment to delivering excellent all-round training has enabled many of our pupils to further their education at prestigious institutions such as The Australian Ballet School, English National Ballet School, and London Studio Centre. Some of our students have even gone on to appear in Musical Theatre productions, join Classical Ballet Companies, or dance commercially with industry giants around the world.

At Macquarie Performing Arts, we offer classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, and AcroDance. Our classes are structured in an enjoyable progressive technical format, with examinations and assessments designed to maximize enjoyment while building a strong technical foundation and encouraging expression and creativity.

We understand that students have different reasons for learning to dance, which is why we provide different pathways for vocational training and dance for pleasure. All students are awarded for their achievements through a Certificate and mark breakdown. We are an inclusive studio, and our examinations and assessments are available to everyone, including students with disabilities, special needs, or learning difficulties who will be given the support they need to achieve and succeed.

We strongly encourage all students to participate in Examinations as they stimulate concentration and effort, improve technical abilities, and provide a sense of achievement. Additionally, participation in Eisteddfods/Competitions as a Soloist or in a Troupe helps students gain confidence and valuable stage experience. Dance Troupes at Macquarie Performing Arts dramatically improve student skill levels and foster a fabulous team spirit. Troupe selection is by invitation only, and members are expected to commit to weekly rehearsals, sometimes more closer to competitions, and be available to participate in 3-4 Eisteddfods annually.
