Reviews of Kariong Brook Falls
"Went here for a walk during last summers. The train station is super cute, walk up to the fire trail was pretty but really steep. Fire trail was around 1/3 of the walk and wasn’t super interesting. Walk to the falls was nice, although don’t be fooled by the stream that is around 200m from the actual falls. The falls themselves are not amazing, we couldn’t swim in it as it was too grimy, so just bush bashed up to a spot half way up the waterfall for a bush shower lol."
"Fenced all around due to rock falls, but the waterfall is more impressive than it shows in online photos. The hike down is not too difficult and quite scenic too. Hiked from Wondabyne station, 40% fire trail and 60% worn down singletrack"
"Worth the effort. And by effort I mean the last part of the track definitely requires coordination and decent shoes. It's only a couple of kms to the bottom but for the last part (and you'll know when you get to it) you'll need to take a steadier pace. It's fairly steep and not much of a path. You may have to park elsewhere for a parking spot, it starts at a firetrail so maybe 2-3 cars can safely park there. There is a lookout (Staples Lookout) about 300m away and also there is a small patch almost opposite where a couple of cars could park."
"What a wonderful Summer surprise to still have water flowing mid January. I don't know if that's normal? The walk is easy going at first using the fire trails, but a steep decent (and ascent back) for the actual falls. We parked at Staples Lookout and used the firetrail entrance across the road to get to the waterfall track. Be especially careful crossing the road coming back, it's a blind corner and cars are flying. We went for a swim at the falls and the water was very refreshing. And you can sit yourself under the falls for a back massage. We took some roast chook rolls for lunch and sat next to the falls and enjoyed the bush sounds. There are no bins there, so just remember to take your rubbish with you! Date of visit: 2021-01-16 from around midday. Temp approx 30°. Total time for the round trip was about 3 hours with the dip and lunch."
