St Therese's Catholic Primary School
About the Business
Welcome to St Therese's Catholic Primary School in Denistone, Australia. Our school may be small, but we have a big heart. As a close-knit community of learners, we are dedicated to providing a high-quality curriculum that engages our students. Our teachers take the time to track the progress of each child and truly know them as individuals, allowing us to offer academic, social justice, and co-curricular opportunities for all.
At St Therese's, we have a deep connection to our Mercy heritage and strive to live out our Catholic values. We work in partnership with parents and the parish to provide guidance, challenges, and experiences that prepare our children for an exciting future.
Located in the Northern Sydney suburb of Denistone, our small and community-focused school offers a quality Catholic education for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6. We take great pride in creating a secure, happy, and faith-filled environment where every member is encouraged to be the best version of themselves, following the example of Jesus Christ.
As a single stream school, St Therese's offers a range of programs to enhance the learning experience of our students. These include Reading Recovery, literacy and numeracy support, specialized Physical Education lessons, Music, and differentiated programs for our gifted and talented students. Our school buildings provide a modern, technology-rich learning space that prepares students for the twenty-first century.
St Therese's Catholic Primary School has a rich history. We first opened our doors in 1951 with just 40 children under the care of the Sisters of Mercy. Over the years, we have grown and evolved, welcoming more lay teachers and expanding to offer education for boys up to Year 6.
In 1992, we underwent a significant refurbishment and building program, resulting in the blessing and opening of our new school building in 1997. Today, we continue to honor our heritage while embracing the latest educational practices.
Our mission at St Therese's is to nurture a love of God, self, others, and learning. Inspired by our beliefs and our school motto, "Live by Truth and Love," we are guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Mercy charism. We strive to instill values of compassion, respect, excellence, justice, and option for the poor. Our holistic approach to education recognizes the uniqueness of each child and aims to help them reach their full potential in a mutually respectful environment.

"This school has so many treasured memories. It was such an amazing school and experience and helped me become a better learner and person. This is a small school with a big heart. Very loving community."
"I am not very sure about the authenticity of some of the negative reviews below however, I can confirm in our time at STT Denistone we have not experienced bullying or mean kids. Every interaction with teachers/staff and principles our queries were handle with the up-most professionalism, empathy and kindness. From the initial open day, we have always felt a warmth at STT Denistone and our daughter has never come home upset nor not wanting to go to school. A fantastic school guided by great leadership and teachers along with an excellent group of parents and families not to mention a respectful group of children across the school. It is a small school with a lot to give, a balanced approach to ensure a well nurtured and healthy educational environment keeps the children focused and cheerful. Highly recommended!"
"A very caring and inclusive school and community within the school. Great communication and attention to detail in education and care for our children. We have never felt so much at easy dropping and picking our children from any educational facility as much as we have at STT Denistone. The values and culture of the school and the behavior of the children in more senior classes just shows how well balanced and genuinely caring all of the teachers, leadership team, parents and families are. A great plus is the focus on literacy in early stages which our children are enjoying throughly."
"St. Therese's has been great for my children. In my experience, the staff are caring and provide a great learning environment and systems for the children. Being a small school means the children don't get lost in the "noise" and they are able to experience working with and socialise with kids of all ages. There is also a great community feel that is actively encouraged in the school with children and parents. The buddy system with the kindy children especially helps the kindy children adjust to a bigger school environment. St. Therese's doesn't only focus academics, which is important to support balanced healthy well rounded children."
"It’s a wonderful school, the teachers are great, they’re focused academically and attentive to what’s going on in each class and with each child. I suppose it’s something that they can do as a smaller school and it’s why we like it. The Principal is fantastic, he is well respected and keen to get the best from both the children and his staff. We’re very lucky to have him. I have three children who have attended and are still attending St Therese’s Catholic Primary School at Denistone. I feel as if the school has really given them a grounded start to their education. My eldest is now attending a much larger Catholic High School in the area and finds the transition from a smaller school to the larger one fine, but I think it’s because he’s had a well-rounded and enjoyable education at St Therese."
