The name "Taekwondo" is derived from the Korean words "Tae" meaning foot, "Kwon" meaning fist, and "Do" meaning way of. It represents the way of the foot and fist. While the name Taekwondo has only been used since 1955, the roots of this martial art date back 2,300 years in Korea.
