St Brendan's Catholic Primary School
About the Business
Welcome to St Brendan's Catholic Primary School, located at 18 Cambridge Avenue, Bankstown, Australia. As an esteemed establishment and point of interest, we are proud to be a primary school that offers a dynamic curriculum in a contemporary learning environment.
At St Brendan's, we prioritize the growth and development of each student, as well as the professional development of our dedicated educators. Our classrooms are modern and well-resourced, providing a conducive setting for high-quality educational programs that yield exceptional learning outcomes for our children.
One of our core values is embracing diversity and fostering acceptance and respect within our school community. We believe in celebrating the unique qualities of each individual and encouraging children to be open-minded and inclusive. Our goal is to nurture students who become ambassadors of Faith, Respect, Love, and Justice.
Our school community is highly multicultural and diverse, with a majority of Vietnamese heritage. We promote a welcoming, collaborative, and friendly environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Our vibrant and enthusiastic staff are committed to their own continuous learning and to delivering top-notch educational programs for our students.
As a school founded by the Josephite Sisters, we are dedicated to upholding their charism and honoring the legacy of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. We strive to develop students with strong Catholic values, a love for learning, and a deep connection to the wider community.
Throughout our history, we have welcomed many migrant families, including refugees from Europe after World War II, Lebanon in the 1970s, and Vietnam in the 1980s. In response to this multicultural mix, we have implemented specialized programs such as New Arrivals, English as a Second Language, and a Vietnamese bilingual program. These programs have evolved over time, with English as a Second Language now known as English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
Our school has undergone various building projects, resulting in beautiful, spacious learning spaces filled with natural light and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The most recent project was completed in 2019, further enhancing our learning environment.
At St Brendan's, we are dedicated to inspiring young minds and celebrating diversity within a faith-filled community. Our motto, "All for God," guides us as we work together as a community of students, staff, parents, and the parish to instill strong Catholic values, promote a love of learning, and foster connections within the wider community.
Our core values reflect the Josephite Tradition of active service, inclusion, and bringing hope to all. Each value is complemented by a phrase written by St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, reminding us to never see a need without taking action.
We are privileged to have Fr Toan Nguyen as our Parish Priest and Fr Moses Tamale as our Assistant Priest. Our address is 54 Northam Avenue, Bankstown, NSW 2200, and you can reach us at (02) 9790 2859.
Sacraments are administered by the parish in collaboration with the school, usually during specific times throughout the year. Each grade has a Mass each term during the 9.00am Parish Mass on Tuesdays, and families are warmly invited to attend. Additionally, twice a term, each grade has a Family Mass on a Sunday, providing an opportunity for families to join their child in celebrating Mass with the parish.
St Brendan's Catholic Primary School is part of the Sydney Catholic Schools network, which consists of over 150 low-fee Catholic schools in the Sydney Archdiocese. These schools are thriving Catholic communities that prioritize excellent teaching and learning to empower students to reach their full potential.
We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our schools and offices now stand. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
Thank you for visiting our website, and we hope you find it informative and helpful as you embark on a new chapter in your child's educational journey.

"Good environment for learning but I wasn't fond of the teachers looking back at it. I had this one teacher on my back all the time back in Year 3, called me selfish when my friend jokingly took my food (from assumptions I guess?) then took my friend's side when she thought I was in the wrong house. I couldn't tell what house I was in other than them giving me a yellow water bottle 2 years later after that incident (still surprised we're still friends). I had good memories there, aside from obvious favouritism and sometimes teachers showing their nasty side for no good reason (or some teachers actually being a douche)"
"I'm a newly graduated student, I would like to start off by saying how poorly the school was treated and payed for by the former principle. The former principle never bought new equipment and was literally the biggest cheapskate, she mistreated parents and had favouritism towards certain students. When students would act out, swear, start physically fighting, but the old principle would let him off on a warning, there were no actions that were made making this school horrible with the way they deal with situations. Now there was a new principle who had joined the stb community last year and has made a big improvement to the school. The new principle had given us many new and different opportunities and activities and actually considered the feedback from the students themselves. She bought us a lot of new equipment and generally made a good impact and improvement on this horrible school. She puts in an effort to get to know students and manages the school very well. Overall the school has made a big improvement with the new principle i have to admit that the school is very very small and doesn't have enough teachers to support the school. The school is okay but I would recommend not to go to this school. Lots of favouritism, lots back talking, and lots of problems not being properly dealt with. Do not go to this school unless you will settle for the bare minimum for your child."
"Coming from the class of 2017, this school was pretty decent, the canteen food was nice with reasonable prices. I remember straight after we were allowed to leave the classroom, students would rush to the canteen to get a cheese toastie. Education was okay, in year 6, the teachers tried to prepare us for year 7 by doing mock assessments (though it didn't help much, we basically had a term to do a 6 slide presentation about our chosen saint for confirmation. Looking back at that, it should've been a 2-3 week assessment to apply in pressure to prepare the students). The teachers would always make my class stay in for recess and lunch for the little things that one classmate would always do (mucking around, talking back to the teacher, etc), almost everyday we would be sitting in the classroom in silence and we weren't allowed to sit with our friends. Looking at the other reviews, it sort of saddens me (not too much though) that this school has degraded over the years since I have graduated. It is true that there was no camps for year 6 and barely any excursions throughout primary school. The teachers sometimes do tend to lean towards favouritism, but it really didn't affect me much as I usually minded my own buisness in class. I am kind of lowkey dissapointed that the school drastically did a makeover when I graduated, whenever I pass by the school, I don't even recognise it anymore. Now that I am looking back to primary school, I'm confident to say that it was an experience which I wouldn't go through again, except for some parts.I would give it a 2.5 star rating, but I'm feeling generous at the moment, so I'll give it a 3."
"This is from a former student a year ago, I went to this school. It wasn't fun, From what I experienced the school learning was very boring and tiresome. I barley get a break or two. Miss Boyale is way to strict on us and should let us have some air... The school is very clean I would say but the fee for this school is not worth it. My parents basically struggled to pay the fee's, Once in a while teachers have mental break downs and favouritism was common in this sort of school. Miss boyale practically praised over my classmate sim(not full name.) Food was way to expensive and property was very small. Learning education was good, we were learning year 6-7 stuff. But people from this school is toxic, the toxicity was off the charts, popular kids talking behind backs left and right. Back chatting, talking bad, attuite and swearing wasn't a surprise. I do recommend this school if you're a high end spoiled brat with enough money to cover everything, But ima just say, there is no camping or excursions in this school. Its boring and lack of teachers doing anything. teachers where lazy with their job. If you're gonna spend your money on this trash. You shallow and ugly in the inside. TY :)"
"I attended this school and it was not a great school. In year 6 I questioned a teacher about a math problem that I got right and she got wrong. The fees towards renovations were all used after I 'graduated' from the school. When doing the Selective High School Placement Test, they did not agree to providing school marks, forcing my grade to solely rely on raw exam marks. As a whole, the school is not worth your money."
