About Little Bay Rock Pool
Welcome to Little Bay Rock Pool, a hidden gem nestled in the City of Randwick, New South Wales, Australia. This establishment is not just your ordinary point of interest, but a place of tranquility and natural beauty that will leave you in awe.
At Little Bay Rock Pool, we understand that capturing breathtaking moments can be challenging, especially when faced with the harsh elements of nature. Our beach cams may experience temporary downtime due to sea spray, heavy rainfall, vandalism, or storm damage. Rest assured, our dedicated team continuously monitors their availability and works diligently to bring them back online as quickly as possible.
While we strive to maintain a pristine environment, we want to inform you that pieces of material containing asbestos, mainly fibrous cement sheeting, have been discovered at Little Bay Beach. Randwick City Council is actively inspecting and removing visible materials, as well as developing long-term remediation solutions. Your safety is our priority, and we encourage you to learn more about our asbestos management efforts on our website.
Little Bay Beach itself is a hidden treasure in Sydney. Often referred to as a "secret" beach, it is beloved by locals for its sheltered waters, which make it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Families flock to its golden sands, while the rock ledges on the north and south sides are renowned fishing spots, albeit sometimes dangerous. Please exercise caution when exploring these areas.
Access to this secluded haven is granted via a steep timber staircase, conveniently located off Pine Avenue from Anzac Parade. Street parking is available for your convenience, and a charming café awaits you at the Prince Henry Centre near the chapel, perfect for a post-swim treat.
For your convenience, public toilets and change rooms are conveniently situated on the timber staircase, about halfway down to the beach. We kindly ask that you leave your furry friends, alcohol, and glass bottles at home, as they are not permitted on the beach area.
While the Little Bay Beach may seem like a paradise, we advise following the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage Beachwatch program's recommendation to avoid swimming during and 24 hours after heavy rain. Stormwater runoff from surrounding streets may potentially pollute the water.
In June 2023, we completed the expansion of the timber staircase leading to Little Bay Beach. Previously, access was limited to a single set of steep, narrow stairs, making it difficult for beachgoers, especially during the busy summer months. The new staircase, constructed with Blackbutt timber treads and non-slip nosings in accordance with building regulations, now provides a safer and more accessible pathway for visitors carrying beach gear, fishing rods, and scuba equipment.
To ensure your safety in the water, we have compiled a directory of services and groups that can assist you during your visit.
Lastly, we would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of this land, the Bidjigal and Gadigal Clans, who have occupied this area of the Sydney Coast for generations. We pay our respects to their Elders, both past and present.
Come and experience the fragile beauty of Little Bay Rock Pool. Immerse yourself in the serenity and enjoy the wonders of this hidden coastal paradise.
