"This course has been a wonderful experience. I did not know a lot about art before this but now I know more and I appreciate art much more. My tutor Professor Stephen Farthing has been extremely helpful and supportive. I recommend this course to anyone who would like to know more about art have a great learning experience"
"I've long held an interest in the arts: writing, painting, sculpture and performance. So, when a friend recommended that I start my retirement by engaging in an online course in Art Appreciation, I agreed to enrol. I am so glad I did. The twelve modules covered all my favourite artistic periods. They introduced me to a myriad of interesting facts I knew very little about, like the Art Market and the History of Australian Art. Thank you, Hilary Kay, for curating the information and sharing the knowledge of authors and contributors with art enthusiasts like me."
"This inspired and cleverly curated course is first class. It takes you on a journey of discovery into the world of art and beyond. Comprehensive and up-to-date, each module is informative and thought-provoking - like peeling an onion, information is gradually revealed layer after layer. The course took me on an intellectual, personal and creative path that I believe will continue into the future. It has been a privilege to have access to and learn from such a field of experts. I now see art in a more expansive and fresh way. This course is strongly recommended as it provides value for money, access to numerous resources, support from a dedicated tutor and the opportunity to participate in an online community. Libby, my tutor, gave timely, specific and insightful feedback to support my learning. Don't hesitate to enrol - you won't regret it!"
"I was excited to have the opportunity for participating in your Art Appreciation Course. My learning journey through centuries was challenging, fascinating and very satisfying once I completed the modules one by one. The provided material was clear, comprehensive and enjoyable to read. The course broadened my interest and equipped me with flexibility regarding artworks. For me, apart from the factual knowledge, the most interesting discovery was to be able to see the complexity of art history, which is influencing and being influenced by world history, religion, politics, trade, economy and social changes. During the course, I liked to play an active role in learning as it was demanded by the essays, being one of the hardest hurdles. Coincidentally, my learning process was parallel with Covid pandemic related limited or complete lockdown situations. I am sure that engaging with art study helped me get through this difficult period. Finally, I would like to thank my tutor, professor Stephen Farthing for his support and encouragement."
"I highly recommend the Art Appreciation Course delivered by the Art Institute of Australia. I found the course led me through each module with a tender hand. Launching into a new Module, I always felt the previous course prepared me well for my current learning. Although I had not previously studied art history, I feel that the course would also offer challenges to students with various levels of experience as the assignments, online learning process, and opportunities for interaction with Tutors allows a certain individually focussed approach. Through this course, I have not only increased my knowledge about art history, but also, general world history, and social culture. My own personal writing skills and artwork outcomes have advanced, along with achieving a 'know-how' to continue reading and learning about art whilst understanding it's significance to our world."
