Welcome to Sydney Japanese International School! Located in the leafy suburb of Terrey Hills on the beautiful Northern Beaches of Sydney, our bilingual, non-denominational, and co-educational institution offers a unique educational experience rich in Japanese and Australian culture and virtues.

Established in 1969, Sydney Japanese International School has been making a significant contribution to bilingual education in Australia for over five decades. We pride ourselves on welcoming families from all nationalities and backgrounds, creating a diverse and inclusive community.

At SJIS, we offer two divisions, each with its own curriculum. The International Division follows the New South Wales curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 6, with daily Japanese language lessons. On the other hand, the Japanese Division teaches the curriculum as currently taught in Japan for Year 1 to Year 9, with daily English lessons. These two divisions work together towards the same vision of becoming a 'Kakehashi,' a strong bridge, connecting communities and cultures and nurturing our future global leaders.

On our campus, the two divisions learn side-by-side, sharing many school events such as Sports Day, Language Festivals, and School Concerts. Additionally, they participate in mixed bilingual lessons in music, art, physical education, and coding, fostering a sense of collaboration and cultural exchange.

Our highly experienced, passionate, and dedicated teachers strive for academic excellence while encouraging active participation in school events. We believe in a personalized approach to learning, challenging our students to be the best version of themselves.
