Hornsby North Public School
About the Business
Welcome to Hornsby North Public School, a peaceful bush setting located in the northern suburbs of Sydney, Australia. Our school, situated at 52 Ida Street in Hornsby, is a primary establishment that serves as a point of interest for the local community.
At Hornsby North Public School, we prioritize the well-being and education of our students. We offer a range of programs and activities to enhance their learning experience. For instance, our Year 2 students participate in the School Swim and Water Safety program, a comprehensive ten-day course that aims to develop water confidence and teach essential skills in water safety and survival. The program is conducted at specific times throughout the day, with each class allocated a designated slot.
In addition to academic pursuits, we also believe in providing our students with enriching experiences beyond the classroom. As part of our Inquiry-based learning approach, our Kindergarten students will be visiting Golden Ridge Farm at Dural on Wednesday, 6th September 2023. This excursion is designed to deepen their understanding of where our food comes from, and they will have the opportunity to interact with and feed farm animals. Rain or shine, this excursion will proceed, so please refer to the attached note for further details.
At Hornsby North Public School, we value our students' achievements and celebrate their successes. We hold a Silver & Gold Medal Ceremony where medal recipients and their visitors are invited to attend. This event is followed by a morning tea to honor these exceptional individuals.
As an institution, we also recognize and pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We acknowledge the indigenous people and elders, both past and present, and their ongoing connection to the land.

Reviews
"This school is great, and provides so many opportunities. Ranked number one primary school in NSW 2022, this school focuses academically and encourages students to do their best in everything. Mrs Butterworth is a fantastic teacher, and is among one of the best in our school. Definitely recommend for your children."
"This is a really good school, which is local to many people in Hornsby. It is one of the best public schools in Sydney. It is at an affordable price with many hands-on experiences. The school provides chromebooks for years 3-4, Dells for years 5-6, and ipads for k-2. There is art, language and more. You will have an opportunity to join a dancing thing from year 2. You can also try out for PSSA (public school sport association) from year 3. The sports included in PSSA are football (soccer), t-ball, softball, AFL and more. You will also be allowed to join a band which comes with lessons for the instrument you play in the school grounds after school hours (sometimes before school hours). The bands you can join are; junior: yr 3, intermmediate: y4 and senior and stage band from yr5-6. You can also do choir, in which most people get in. In kindy, you can do kindy groovers, where you can dance and sing, and you can also join a similar activity in year 1 and 2. We also have Harmony activities, and we learn about how people belong, we don't bully and other things. There is a library here, with many books to borrow (for free) and the canteen food is nice. There are also many great play areas such as the oval, camping ground, 3-6 equipment & quadrangle with handball squares, k-2 equipment & quadrangle with hopscotch, alphabet, hundreds chart and there is a ball court in which you can play tennis, basketball, netball and more. There is a very nice environment, sometimes, you can see wallabies over the fence of the camping ground, and many birds. The students here are kind, and you will make friends easily. The teachers will do lots to help with students. The teachers are kind and they connect well to the students and you will feel welcome. I certainly recommend attending this school, as you will get outstanding education, make lots of friends and have great experiences. (-2023 graduate)"
"I attended this school from K-6 a number of years ago and felt so isolated and racially discriminated against especially by Mrs. Butterworth who was teaching Y2 at the time. Surprised she’s still there now teaching Y5/6. I would never send my children there even if the school has advanced over the years a few bad apples really make a huge difference to a child’s environment."
"I liked this school. I specifically liked Mrs Butterworth (5/6 B teacher). Many say she's 'strict' but she's not at all. It all comes down to the schools amazing principal, Mrs Sumpton. Without her, this school wouldn't be as it is today. Thanks-2024 graduate 'from the future'"
"I would rate this a 6/5 if I could. I was here from K-6 and my experience was amazing. The teachers are amazing and Mrs Sumpton is an encouraging and amazing principal. If i could have more lives, I would go to Hornsby North in every one of them. Only one complaint: some students get privileges. 5/6B is rigged and all the favourites go there. There is a lot of favouritism and children of teachers get privileges. Apart from that, 100% Send your children to this school if you want them to grow up happy. 100/10."
