Camden High School
About the Business
Welcome to Camden High School, a fully comprehensive coeducational institution located in Camden, Australia. Situated on Cawdor Road, our school caters to approximately 1100 students, including 82 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students. In addition, we have 6 special education classes for students with identified learning needs.
At Camden High School, we take pride in our strong ties to the local community and our commitment to providing a broad range of opportunities and social experiences for our students. We believe in supporting our students in their transition into post-school pathways, whether that be through traineeships, employment, or tertiary education options. As one of the largest providers of school-based traineeships in the region, we offer extensive opportunities for vocational education pathways through our Macarthur Trade Training Centre arrangement.
In Years 7 and 8, we offer an academically selective class that allows us to extend students in their educational abilities. For senior students striving for academic excellence in their Higher School Certificate exams, we provide a fully supervised HSC Hub. Our school prioritizes student well-being, literacy, numeracy, Aboriginal education, as well as engagement and future-focused learning.
Camden High School has a strong sporting culture, with a longstanding sporting exchange program with Cowra High School since 1971. We also encourage students to pursue agricultural, technological, creative arts, and performing arts experiences. We believe in providing a well-rounded education that nurtures the talents and interests of all our students.
As an institution, we acknowledge and respect the Dharawal people, the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is located. We honor Elders past, present, and emerging, and are committed to increasing our awareness of Australia's Indigenous peoples and cultures. We value the contribution the Dharawal people bring to our school community as they support us in educating our children.

"Staff member very difficult to deal with and seemed to be just a time waster after they contacted me for work. Seemed to get offended at me offering knowledge on the task at hand. Did not seem one bit appreciative of the information I offered and cancelled the quote. Very frustrating conversation to have with another adult."
"Not only was the bullying so horrible that people were getting injured, but the principal didn't care about anyone, had the audacity to ask me why i was crying and told me to get over my anxiety. The kids were out of control with no work ever being done, some of the teachers were insulting and rude, rumours spread fast and everyone was picked on. I heard someone threaten to commit suicide and no teachers picked up on it! I had to leave due to it causing mental health problems, there was kids calling out to me and slurring. - Romanna"
"I can now say this as I have left the school ( former student, left back in 2021): Firstly, I want to put it out there that the new Principal may change things for the better. The school has an excellent environment with some excellent teachers who make it their life goal for me to succeed in their subject, don't get me wrong, I still keep in contact with those teachers on a regular basis. They made school worth coming to. The problem is how the bad apples ruin it for the school and made me NOT want to come at all. One prime example was when I decided to cut someone who was a former friend off after they bullied me and just being an annoying person in general. That kid complained to the deputy principal (at the time) and her response was to force me to give the guy another chance after the thousands of chances I gave him. I was in tears at the pure anger I had at that deputy principal for taking his side and not considering my side at all. I am allowed to be friends with whoever I wanted to be. Another issue is with how SOME of the teachers reacted when they found out I have autism, they simply thought I was a no hope and that he won't go anywhere in life. One former art teacher thought I was stupid until I suddenly said the word "melancholy". She then suddenly thought I was the smartest student in the class, always asking me questions... I have a lot more issues with the school but I am going to leave it here for this review."
"OK for a large public school, I guess but it would be great to see teachers more motivated to teach and maintain a better discipline in classes."
"Had the pleasure of speaking two young ladies from the school while at bowling today very polite and respectful"
