Explorers Playgroup

Welcome to Explorers Playgroup, located in the heart of North Sydney on Miller Street. As an established institution and point of interest, we have been providing creative play sessions for children under 5 since 1973.

Our playgroup is held from Monday to Thursday, 10am - 12:30pm during the school term, rain, hail, or shine! Whether you prefer to pre-book online or drop in on the day, we invite you to come along and enjoy the fun!

At Explorers Playgroup, we believe in the power of child-initiated play and the importance of parents or carers being actively involved. Our experienced Play Leaders set up a variety of activities to suit the needs of children, allowing them to explore and create in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our light-filled rooms and beautiful playground provide the perfect backdrop for endless adventures and discoveries.

To ensure everyone has a great time, we have a few tips for enjoying playgroup. Upon arrival, our friendly Playgroup Leader will greet you and introduce you to the playgroup. We encourage carers to use nametags for their children so that we can all learn their names during the session. Please also remember to wear old clothes, as messy activities are an important and wonderful part of children's play. We provide painting smocks to protect clothing.

Supervision is the responsibility of parents or carers, while our Play Leaders facilitate play and provide guidance when needed. During storytime and dance along sessions, we encourage adults to participate, as modeling behavior is key to learning. After the session, we provide cleaning equipment should you wish to sanitize toys before or after your child uses them.

When it comes to refreshments, there are nearby cafes available, or you can bring your own morning tea and lunch. We kindly request that all food brought to playgroup follows our nut-free guideline to ensure the safety of all children. Additionally, please bring your own keep cup or borrow one from the Centre to reduce waste.

For convenience, we ask that prams be left in the playground area, either at the side or end of the building. Parking can be a breeze for residents in the North Sydney Council area, as you are eligible to apply for a Resident Permit and enjoy 1.5 hours of free parking in Ridge St Car Park. Non-residents can take advantage of our discounted rates at the Ridge Street Carpark by entering your car rego details into the laptop at the entrance to the Playgroup. The discount will automatically apply to your payment at the carpark.

Please note that old Playgroup Passes are no longer valid, as all patrons have had over a year since the post-Covid lockdown to attend. To receive a discount, simply enter your car license plate into the computer at Playgroup.
