As our population continues to grow, we understand the importance of updating our ward boundaries to ensure fair representation for all electors. In compliance with the Local Government Act 1993, we have proposed changes to Cessnock's ward boundaries to balance the number of electors in each of our four wards. These changes will be implemented before the next council elections scheduled for September 2024.

In addition to our commitment to governance, we are also involved in various projects aimed at improving the community. We have initiated the preliminary investigation of the Sawyers Gully Urban Investigation Area (SGUIA), a long-term project that will take several years to plan. The first stage of this project involves preparing a structure plan that considers important factors such as biodiversity, infrastructure, and transport.

To keep our residents, applicants, developers, and industry professionals informed, we have developed the Application Tracker. This online tool allows you to access and track information regarding planning and development activity within the Cessnock Local Government Area.
