At Radial Timber, we prioritize the sustainable harvesting of Australia's hardwood resources. We firmly believe that old-growth and rainforest timber should be preserved for future generations. To achieve this, we advocate for the timber industry to establish high-value local plantations on suitable farmland while carefully managing our regrowth forests. Currently, we only source PEFC certified regrowth or plantation-grown timber.

We would like to inform our valued customers and suppliers that the Victorian government has made the decision to end native logging in Victoria six years ahead of schedule, with all operations ceasing as of January 1st, 2024. However, this decision has already taken effect, as mills have not received any hardwood logs from Victorian Forests since November 2022. This unfortunate and short-sighted decision has had a significant impact on regional Victoria timber towns, workers, as well as the timber and construction industry as a whole.

Radial Timber has relied on some native timber for production, and as a result, this decision has created a significant gap in our green mill production. This gap will continue to affect us in the coming years until our private plantation resource reaches a harvestable age. Over the past 20 years, we have invested over $30 million into high-value saw log plantations, with a long-term plan to achieve ongoing sustainable yield over a continuous 30-year cycle. However, in the short to medium term, we will need to adapt our strategies, which may result in delays or shortages in stock. Additionally, we will have to adjust to using different species and expect increased pricing due to transport and log costs.

Rest assured, Radial Timber will continue to source from local plantations. However, we will also need to acquire additional feed stock from interstate sources until we can fully transition to our own plantations on a completely private and sustainable rotation.
