About the Business
Welcome to Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater Inc., a renowned establishment located at Yellingbo, Macclesfield Road, 1217. As an establishment, park, point of interest, and tourist attraction, we are proud to be a part of Australia's rich natural heritage.
Since our formation in May 1989, we have been dedicated to the conservation and preservation of the critically endangered Victorian bird emblem, the Helmeted Honeyeater. At that time, the population of these magnificent birds had plummeted to a critically low level of just 50 individuals. Recognizing the urgent need for action, we came together as a community to protect and safeguard this unique species.
Our commitment to the conservation of Australia's flora and fauna is unwavering. We invite you to visit our community nursery, where you will find a wide range of local indigenous plants at very affordable prices. By choosing these plants, you can contribute to the restoration and preservation of our natural environment.
We believe that everyone can make a difference, regardless of financial means. There are various ways to get involved and support our cause. Whether you are a school, community group, corporate volunteer, or an individual, you can take positive action to help the endangered species in our community.
Located in the breathtaking Yellingbo Nature Conservation Area, approximately 50km east of Melbourne, Victoria, our activities are deeply rooted in the heart of this remarkable landscape. By volunteering your time, becoming a member of Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater, or purchasing our merchandise, you can actively contribute to the survival of this critically endangered bird.
Imagine the impact we can make together. By organizing a group planting day, you can gather your friends, family, or colleagues to join us in creating a habitat that ensures the long-term survival of the Helmeted Honeyeater.
Join us in our mission to protect and preserve Australia's unique flora and fauna. Together, we can make a difference and secure a brighter future for the critically endangered Helmeted Honeyeater.

Reviews
"Good place to go for a range of native tubestock, at very reasonable prices. Plant list on their website"
"Lovely knowledgeable staff. Excellent range of indigenous plants. Good prices on native stock tubers. Take cash as they don't have eftpos facilities."
"Excellent range of local plants for only $1.80 plus ferns for $10, so have happily bought over 100 plants here. I've been to quite a few community nurseries now and this is the best for price and quality. Staff are always helpful and give good advice, worth the drive but ring to check they have stock if you want something specific."
"Very important work being done here by a dedicated volunteer team. Striving to protect and breed more of an endangered bird species. The indigenous nursery propagates local species to enhance the local habitat and your home garden."
"Great place to buy native plants (indigenous to Yarra Valley) & help conservation of local endangered wildlife (especially Helmeted Honeyeater, Victoria's avian emblem)."
