"Amazing Dumplings and Atmosphere The highlight of the night was certainly the dumplings and gyoza! The prawn and ginger dumplings with black garlic oil is off the roof! The other dishes such as the Miso Mac and Cheese were delightful too! The atmosphere of the restaurant passed the vibe check! As if you were in Japan! Fully recommend this place for the dumplings and vibes!"

"Walking in to Chotto Motto you feel like you've been transported to Japan! The wonderful touches like the iconic drink vending machine, toy machines, figurines and countless decorative materials truly trick the senses into thinking you're in downtown Tokyo. Unfortunately though, the food fell a little short of expectation. Everything (and I mean every dish) was too salty. While it tasted incredibly good, I had to take a swig of water after every bite. The cocktails were great and the service was on point. The value for money was also on the pricer side, with our bill coming to $170 for two people (although to be fair we did order a lot!)."

"Ultimate fusion of Tokyo and Fitzroy! The food was unbelievable - especially the fish collar special, similar to some of the best dishes we've had in Japan. And incredible service, loved the atmosphere especially that so much of the deco was interactive and oh so Japanese!"

"Love the interior decor and everything about it! Service was also good however food was a big let down. Our dumplings, we felt werent quite up to expectations. Fries with shaker curry was kinda fun but really nothing to shout about. Great location with easy parking but unsure if I’ll ever be back. Maybe if I miss Japan a lot, might return for seasonal dishes"

"Let’s start with the obvious - looking at any photos of Chotto Motto and it’s clear it’s pretty eclectically furnished, to say the least; not that this is to it’s detriment! Instead, it brings a whimsy and casual feeling to the restaurant which doesn’t take itself too seriously. Whether its Japanese games, vending machines or even a Special phone to call Tofu the Dog, it’s certainly somewhere you could come and find something new and fun in the surroundings every visit! The menu itself is quite small - though not to its detriment! Everything on it seems to be picked to compliment each other item on the menu, with each one appealing and interesting in its own way. The food and drinks came out quite quickly after ordering, with the staff happy to help with any questions about the menu. The dumplings were delicious and flavourful, with the house made chilli crunch shining though and absolutely stealing the show - thankfully it’s sold to the public as you exit! Other house made pantry items are also available, so you can have a taste of Chotto Motto at home in between visits. The drinks list is incredibly inspired, with a strong Asian influence on the cocktails, and a killer selection of highballs not to be missed. Service was prompt and friendly, and the staff seemed to know the menu well when asked for suggestions. Overall a very colourful, fun place for some amazing food and drink - with a great little pantry selection to take home with you!"
