About Footscray Park
Welcome to Footscray Park, a stunning regional open space located at Maribyrnong Boulevard, 40 in Footscray, Australia. This establishment is not only a park but also a point of interest and a popular tourist attraction in the area. With its extensive garden beds and various facilities, Footscray Park offers a serene and picturesque environment for visitors to enjoy.
One of the highlights of Footscray Park is its breathtaking views of the city skyline, Flemington Racecourse, and connections to the Maribyrnong River Trail. Whether you're looking for a peaceful stroll or a place to relax and take in the scenery, this park has it all.
For dog owners, Footscray Park provides a designated off-lead area on the western side of Thomson Water Garden, near Victoria University. However, it's important to note that dogs must be on a lead when within five meters of the trail along the Maribyrnong River. Additionally, dogs are not permitted in the playground area at any time, and penalties may apply for breaching these regulations. We encourage all pet owners to be responsible when using public spaces.
Steeped in history, Footscray Park features a memorial garden dedicated to soldiers who served in World War I and World War II. Additionally, there is a memorial honoring the renowned poet Henry Lawson. These tributes add a sense of reverence and cultural significance to the park.
One of the highlights for families is the all-abilities playground, located between the pond area and the Maribyrnong River. This fully fenced playground offers a range of play elements, including a water play area, natural play elements, a sandpit, musical elements, and other playground equipment nestled among trees and garden beds.
For those interested in organizing personal training sessions or special events in Footscray Park, permits and booking applications are required. Reviews of Footscray Park
"A nice, relaxing place for a walk by the river, which is not too far from Melbourne CBD. This park also has a couple of BBQ machines."
"Visited last weekend for enjoying a baby girl n Barbecue there... But sadly all barbecue were not working...."
"I've been going to Footscray park for over 20 years, in fact I used to live across the street many years ago. While seeing so much change in Footscray somewhat saddens me I do hope the current work they're doing retains/restores the Edwardian beauty around the water, and especially my secret meditation spot... This park is incredibly underrated."
"A wonderful park for walking and exercise. It has a long way to walk, bike, and do exercise. Children playgrounds and some exercise items are available. There are BBQ areas and shaded tables with many garbages and some free water.. boats are also available.. it is about 20 mins of walk from the Footscray station, buses can drop you off in the park if you like. but not sure where car parkings are."
