Reviews of The Spotted Owl
"Really excellent place! Have been here several times since moving to the area, great every time, friendly fast service, lovely food and wide range of unique drinks. Highly recommend the chai latte and the brewed bounty!"
"One of the best cafes in Sunbury. Love the food!"
"International quality food. Incredible food, great serving sizes and friendly staff. Every time we’ve eaten here is has been great. Love that it is a fantastic selection of interesting and creative food that is perfectly presented. The Mac ‘n’ Cheese Waffles were a revelation! I love Tapioca but never see it on menus - loved this version as well. The pumpkin latte was delicious."
"Very disappointed with the service.came here for the first time on 29/4,we ordered “Pork Benny “and “Breakfast plate”. The latte and pork Benny was nice .But I found the halloumi cheese was ridiculously salty.I was very hungry, tried to eat more bread and drink more water to try again, still felt like I was eating plain rock salt.I gave some to my husband to try,he spat it out straight away. I kept trying to eat it but it was so salty that my tongue started to hurt.the colour of the halloumi cheese also looked like burnt. Honestly,I couldn’t enjoy my meal, when I went to pay i told the cashier(the Asian girl with 2 low pigtails )the cheese was way too salty, she apologised.I told her I just wanted to let the chef know so the other customers didn’t have to experience what I did.The cashier told another short girl (blonde short hair)who just came next to her, that girl said “it’s halloumi cheese!that’s how it’s supposed to be!”rolled her eyes then just walked off.She told the cashier right in front of me without any eye contact with me,or speaking to me,made me feel I was invisible and a nonsense. I know halloumi cheese is supposed to be salty,I have eaten halloumi cheese at least 100 times in my life including homemade,at different restaurants and in different countries. And this is the first time I made this complaint because it felt like eating plain salt. I was shocked with her rude attitude. Overall,we were happy with the coffee and other food.the Asian cashier was polite and nice.Very disappointed with the cheese,my lips, and tongue still feeling sore when I got home after drinking lots of fluids a few hours later.Paid full price although half of the cheese was still left on the plate because no way anyone could swallow that.Extremely dissatisfied and disgusted with the rude customer service from that short girl,i would give 0 star if I could.and I won’t be going back again because I will never want to be served by someone who doesn’t care about the customer’s feedback."
"I was hunting around for breakfast in Sunbury walking around O'Shanassy Street and I decided to stop in at The Spotted Owl for the first time, I went to my usual haunt first - but I was way too early! A very vibrant and busy cafe on a Friday morning, the place was chock full of people which was a good sign. Service was quick with the front of house staff very confident and on point. The coffee was great and wow, look at the artwork on the top of it - there's passion in the kitchen for their craft. The food was great, I had the breakfast plate sans the mushroom, I'm a firm believer that fungi belongs between your toes, rather than on your plate! I'm glad I found The Spotted Owl and decided to walk in, can recommend."
