Blue Mountains Explorer Bus

"In my opinion a waste of money if you want to get from Katoomba town centre to the main blue mountains locations, you can walk it in about 25mins or look at other bus services or taxi. The bus driver(s) are knowledgeable about the area, but they circulate every hour and we found you could walk 5/10mins to the next stop if you weren't using the cable cars etc. If you want to drag out your day driving round Katoomba or you are limited with mobility then this could be for you, otherwise find a cheaper alternative to reach the main blue mountains stops."

"We tried the explorer bus in early June 2023. A circuit on an explorer/hop-on hop-off bus is almost always a good way to get an idea of the sights and things you might want to come back to (on the bus or otherwise) at a destination. This bus is no exception. The ride, views, and commentary by the driver were all good. The booklet that acts as your ticket had a range of helpful information. The busiest stops are at Katoomba town centre, and Scenic World later in the day."

"This must be the very best Hop-on hop-off bus we have ever been on. All the staff were so helpful and thoughtful. A lot of thought has gone into this operation with the very helpful guide that is given out with the trails you can walk along from, and between the stops. Excellent!"

"If you have an extra day and want to get out of the city, go to the Blue Mountains! And once you decide to do that, make that visit with the Explorer Bus! We had a late start to our day but our driver, Jimmy, had such great advice on what to do that we didn't feel like we missed much. We got the Lyrebird Pass, which includes access to Scenic World. Highly recommend you do that if you have a full day as the Scenic World rides were a lot of fun. This was an easy 2hr train ride from Sydney Central Station to Katoomba for about A$6-7 one-way. The Explorer Bus is right outside the station, where they give you your guide book & tickets. The bus itself is hop-on, hop-off and comes around every 30min at each stop. It's a one way loop so do take the stations in order. Lots of smaller or longer hikes, all very beautiful. You really can't go wrong with any of the stops. And if you need advice, definitely ask the drivers as they're very knowledgeable."

"Money well spent. The bus takes you all around the charming town that borders all of the beautiful walks and sights. The guides in the office will give you a map and can give you general information about how you might want to plan your day. There are two busses that come to each stop every thirty minutes. As you ride the bus the driver gives you information about each of the walks that you can take at each stop. They are very friendly and helpful so don't hesitate to ask any questions. Wonderful trip."
