Reviews of Masala Kitchen World Square
"I want to preface this review and give Masala the benefit of the doubt for their lack-luster service for tonight. As me and my friend both made our way to their door there was no one to greet us nor let us know to wait as they looked to very busy (which is understandable but only yo an extent). Standing there and not being told a simple "Sorry for waiting, we'll be with you as quickly as possible" just made me feel like I was on a stranded island. When a waiter directed us to our table, everything was fine in regards to that side of service. Now the table service. We originally had a waitress serve us, but after noticing a small bucket of utensils that wasn't filled properly as well as not bringing cups with the big container of water, I had to remind her. They were given in a timely manner. However, after inspecting the glasses, both of them were visibly dirty and not cleaned properly. You didn't even need to hold them to a light. I let her know, and I got what I assumed was a new pair of glasses (I say assume because they originally gave me and my friend a green and transparent cup. They gave us the same coloured glasses after I requested new ones). After all of this, we had a very tall waiter who overtook her responsibilities. After being served by him, everything went smoothly. We ordered 2 servings of Naan (garlic and normal), Laal maans, butter chicken, and rice. In terms of food, it was amazing. Butter chicken as well as the Laal maans was nothing short of excellent. Their naan is, of course, made to order, you can tell. The only criticism that I can fault them on is the portion size of the curries that they serve. The bowls that the curries are in are around 8-10cm in diameter (in terms of volume/height of the bowl, it was nothing abnormal). $25-$28 (depening on what you order) of ONE curry in one of those bowls seemed a bit unfortunate. Regardless, outside of that, the food is spot on. tl;dr Masala needs to put more resources into service and management. Their food is good albiet the curry is a bit small for how much you're spending. Food = 4-4.5 / 5 Service = 2 / 5 Atmosphere = 4 / 5"
"Ngl Indian food always slaps so it’s pretty hard to miss and this one definitely didn’t - the platter was banging with all the different curries that you can sample and dip your naan in, really recommend the cheesy naan too but make sure you eat it while it’s hot. Butter chicken is a classic, chicken biryani good too, I’ll skip the deep fried momos though or get them steamed next time. The mango lassi had a funky taste to it, not your average one"
"This place is a vibe! Food is absolutely amazing. Customer service was above and beyond. I visited this restaurant with 14 of my family and friends and the staff catered to all our requests. I would highly recommend this place if you are visiting Sydney."
"Very, very mid food. Thali came with butter chicken, lamb and dhal. The lamb and dhal lacked flavour, the butter chicken was really sweet. Dosa was limp and soggy instead of being light and crispy that I was looking forward to. The lamb mince filling was alright but there was just not enough of it. We politely gave our feedback to the waiter when he asked us how the food was but he just stared back blankly and left. Ok. The menu displayed in their window is also misleading. It clearly says Mon - Sun but the waiter just shrugged and gave us a different menu anyway. If the menu displayed isn't valid anymore, it really should get taken down. Location is good but the food was disappointing and not tasty enough for a return visit."
