Campbell Rhododendron Gardens
About the Business
Welcome to Campbell Rhododendron Gardens, a stunning establishment and park located in Blackheath, Australia. Situated at Bacchante Street, 1, our gardens are a popular point of interest and tourist attraction in the area.
During autumn, Blackheath transforms into a remarkable sight. The Maple Grove Walk is a wonderland of yellowed and russet leaves, creating a picturesque scene. Spread across 18.3 hectares, our gardens are adorned with deciduous trees, which gradually change color and provide a spectacular contrast against the various shades of green in the surrounding bushland.
To preserve our wildlife, we kindly request that all dogs be kept on leads at all times, as mandated by the Crown Land Management Act 2016 94(1)(B). This measure ensures the protection of our diverse wildlife species.
Entry to Campbell Rhododendron Gardens is by donation, with a suggested amount of $5 per person. Members and children under 18 years can enter free of charge. Donations can be made at the Information Booth using cash or card. Please note that the gardens are managed by the dedicated volunteers of the Blue Mountains Rhododendron Society of NSW Inc.
If you're interested in helping out, our volunteers mostly work on Mondays. Feel free to drop in or complete the online form to inquire about joining our team.
Throughout the year, our gardens showcase a variety of breathtaking displays. Bulbs are the first to flower, followed by Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Waratahs, and other exotic species, which burst into blossoms of vibrant colors. From pure whites to sensational blood-reds, with striking yellows, pinks, purples, and oranges in between, the gardens offer a visual feast for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike.
Summer is the perfect time to enjoy a picnic amidst the blooming native flora. Bask in the summer sunshine and immerse yourself in the beauty of the gardens.
In winter, native shrubs such as Acacia and Grevillea come alive with flowers, while the bare deciduous trees against the native bushland create a sculptural splendor. Later in the season, the Camellias add their own enchanting touch. Although snowfall is not guaranteed every year, when it does occur, it adds an ethereal and peaceful ambiance to the gardens.
Campbell Rhododendron Gardens is a truly unique blend of Blue Mountains native bushland and exotic species. Underneath towering trees, you'll find Azaleas, Mollis Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Camellias, Kalmias, Pieris, Forsythia, and other cold climate deciduous trees.
The gardens are a colorful and picturesque sight all year round, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Blue Mountains Rhododendron Society Inc Management Committee and our hardworking volunteers. Maintaining the beauty of these gardens is a massive undertaking, both in terms of labor and expenses. We greatly appreciate your generous donations, and we also invite you to consider joining our group of volunteers, known as the MonVols. Simply arrive on a Monday morning, and we'll find a task for you. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
As we enjoy the beauty of the gardens, it is important to acknowledge and pay respect to the traditional custodians of the land, the Dharug and Gundungurra people. For thousands of generations, they have sung their songs, danced their dances, and shared their stories on this sacred land. We honor their presence, both past and present.

"As we visited out of season we didn’t get to see much. There were heaps of flower buds though which must be awesome in spring. Would definitely visit again in spring to see how the garden looks like in season. The toilets and other facilities are clean and maintained. There were walking paths with labels. The place is huge! You’ll easily spend 30mins in there. You must be prepared to walk a trail if you wanted to explore more areas. It would be great if there are markets or food stalls."
"I don't know. A lot of good reviews but when I got there it's looks like it's not maintained. One or two beautiful spots but that's it, the rest is just grass. Clean toilets"
"If you visit in the right season it is lovely and beautiful. When off season and not following, then something average. Entry is by donation only. There is parking and a public restroom. Not many benches or tables but worth packing light snacks or drinks to enjoy a break."
"Extraordinary, exotic and exceptional flowers and trees. Words can’t describe the beauty captured. Good for families or couples who want to get a romantic backdrop to photos. No cafe and wear flat shoes as steep in parts. Bathrooms good and very easy parking. Love from your local travel guide - M Please like this post if helpful ❤️"
