About Sydney Zoo
Welcome to Sydney Zoo, the ultimate destination for animal lovers in Australia. Located at Bungarribee, Great Western Highway, our institution offers an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. As a combined zoo and aquarium, we are proud to house over 4,000 animals, including awe-inspiring and endangered species from all around the world.
Embark on a journey through our remarkable mixed-species habitats as you stroll down the African Boardwalk. Witness scenes from the savannah and marvel at the diversity of wildlife. Wander down the leafy Primate Boulevard and be mesmerized by the incredible animals of south-east Asia. Immerse yourself in our beautiful open-range Australia habitat, where kangaroos and wallabies freely hop around the meandering pathways.
Sydney Zoo is the only institution in New South Wales that combines both a zoo and an aquarium. In fact, we proudly house the largest Reptile & Nocturnal House in the world. Explore this captivating underwater world and come face to face with bull sharks, a giant saltwater crocodile, playful penguins, turtles, and a plethora of colorful fish. Additionally, our Reptile & Nocturnal House is home to creatures scaly, slithery, and sleepy, providing an up-close encounter like no other.
At Sydney Zoo, we offer a unique opportunity to witness some of the world's most magnificent animals. Visit our African precinct and marvel at giraffes, lions, meerkats, cheetahs, zebras, hyenas, and Tino – Sydney's ONLY rhino. Watch elephants splash in their pool and orangutans swing high on the O-Line. Don't forget to say hello to the chimpanzees, cheeky baboons, and the newest residents of Sydney Zoo – the squirrel monkeys.
For those looking to explore the wonders of Australia's native wildlife, our open-range precinct is a must-visit. Encounter koalas, kangaroos, emus, wombats, and more as you delve into the beauty of our diverse ecosystem.
Conveniently located on the Great Western Highway, Eastern Creek, Sydney Zoo is easily accessible by car, public transport, or rideshare services. With our extensive range of keeper talks and feeds every half hour, there is always something exciting to see and learn at Sydney Zoo.

Reviews of Sydney Zoo
"Very nice zoo! Loved the zoo keepers interacting and providing detailed interesting information on the animals. Staffing seemed short, and a lot was closed. That's the only thing that kept this from being a 5-star experience."
"This is a nice zoo, well laid out and overall a good family experience. Even with a full parking lot it wasn’t too crowded…for a weekend in July. If you’re expecting a menagerie of amazing animals, I recommend the Australian Reptile Park or even Symbios; there are the basic big animals you expect to find at a zoo but that’s about it. The rides are fun but again, pretty basic considering the size of the zoo and ticket price. Speaking of prices, if you think you’ll be back more than one time in a year the annual pass is slightly more expensive than a one-time visit."
"It's better to book your ticket online for a 10aud off and quick entry. It has convenient free parking. The Zoo is well managed and equipped. Easy trail flow. Heaps of rest areas and cafes around with plenty of great food to choose from. There are also rides for kids to enjoy. We had fun seeing all the lovely animals and long walks in the zoo. Staff are so nice and friendly. I highly recommend visiting this zoo."
"It was our first experience in zoo in Sydney. We had fun. On an average it's good place to spend a day with kids. Positive - good collection of animals and lots of activities to do for kids. U can definitely spend all day here. Negative - the most important one for me was that bathroom were in dire condition. Lots of them dint had any tissue paper. The floors were dirty Second was even after spending good amount of money on tickets the internal attractions like Farris wheel or snow glob activities were all paid. I found that little expensive. Buy overall I happy with it."
"Easy online ticket purchase, very reasonable prices and booking times. Free convenient parking. We enjoyed the layout of the trail. The best day to visit is a sunny day during winter as most of the animals are outside. The zoo is well equipped to manage massive crowds. Less bustling on weekdays. Great logical flow through the exhibits. Plenty of rest areas and washrooms throughout. Completely pram accessible and easy to navigate. Food carts were also positioned well. The cafe has great food choices, something for everyone. Great visibility of the animals without feeling too intrusive. Animals seem to be well taken care of. Animals were active so we got to see nearly all the different species. Staff were fantastic and the info talks were great. Little one really enjoyed the animals and it’s a nice long walk in the zoo. Highly recommend visiting this zoo."
