About the Business
Welcome to Vetboard Victoria, located at 10-16 Queen Street in Melbourne, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to regulating and supporting the veterinary profession in Victoria.
At Vetboard Victoria, we strive to continuously improve our regulatory practices to better serve both Victorian vets and the communities they work in. We believe in the power of collaboration and therefore encourage you to register and attend our Vet Board forums. These forums provide a platform for sharing insights and ideas on how we can enhance our role as a regulator, ultimately benefiting the veterinary profession and the communities we serve.
Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the veterinary field by exploring our website. We recently posted recommendations on access to and storage of pentobarbital, based on coronial findings. These recommendations are crucial in ensuring the safe and responsible use of this substance within the veterinary industry.
We also take pride in celebrating the achievements of our veterinary professionals. Congratulations to Dr. Barry Hedgespeth on becoming a new veterinary specialist in Small Animal Medicine. This recognition highlights the dedication and expertise of our practitioners.
For all registered veterinary practitioners in Victoria, we have opened the application process for registration renewal. Visit the provided link for more information and ensure your continued practice in the veterinary field.
Furthermore, we value transparency and seek input from our stakeholders. We recently concluded a consultation on proposed changes to fees for the upcoming 2023-24 practising year. The outcome of this consultation can be found on our website, allowing you to stay informed and engaged in the decision-making process.
To ensure appropriate standards of veterinary practice and facilities, we have developed guidelines that can be accessed on our website. These guidelines serve as a valuable resource for veterinary professionals, helping them deliver high-quality care to their patients.
Lastly, if you are in need of a veterinary practitioner registered in Victoria, our website offers a convenient search feature. This tool will assist you in finding the right professional to meet your specific needs.

"Thank you to each and every board member who listened, believed and acted on my complaint especially "L" who kept me up to date and informed. Whilst there is a long way to go with other departments involved, the Vetboard have truly provided a satisfactory outcome and I'm glad I contacted them."
"Wouldn’t waste your time with these people. We had evidence of a vets incompetence resulting in the death of our dog and the board did nothing. Only time we heard from them was when they would carry on about the deadline of our response and even when it was put in the didn’t do anything. This vet is still practicing when he clearly shouldn’t be. No such thing as justice anymore."
"Lovely food and staff! The Bento boxs are delicious and super great value! The border collie cakes and persian cat sashimi are some of the best I’ve ever had. Without a doubt the best in the area."
"Just like the other two negative reviews confirm, the Victorian Vetboard (Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria) is an unprofessional and pointless organisation, it is no wonder why there are so many incompetent and inept Vets, if this is the way they handle serious complaints about unprofessional Vets. This organisation is so inept that they try to say that complaints about Vets should be addressed at VCAT and not with them, so what is the point of the Victorian Vet Board? In all honesty like the other reviewers I have no idea, just like they have no idea on how to handle complaints about Vets. Now no doubt, not every Victorian Vet is hopeless, but when 8 Victorian Vets go on the record to imply that a DNA verified Natural Born Bobtail pup was docked by us, whilst the RSPCA says we didn't and the RSPCA Chief Inspector goes even further and says “Because the Reality is, I think in this case we can say you didn’t dock their tails that’s 100%” and “Everyone in this room knows the real person there” Implying who was actually responsible for the damage. Do you think that the Victorian Vet Board has a problem, not according to them. Would you like to take your beloved pet to a Vet that is so incompetent that they can not tell the difference between a pup with a docked tail or a pup that was DNA verified as being a Natural Born Bobtail dog, which means it has a shortened tail. I doubt these Vets would even be able to tell the difference between a cat and a dog as obviously they are unable to tell the difference between a docked tail and a DNA verified Natural Born Bobtail. Some of these Vets gave their so-called expert opinions months after the pups had left my care, in one case one of the Vets gave their opinion 5 months after the pup had left my care and in one case he did not even examine the dog. What did the Victorian Vet Board say about that? Nothing, they apparently think it is acceptable for a Vet to make false and unprofessional comments such as that, months after a pup had left someones care. To make matters even worse, the Victorian Vet board is so unprofessional that they even refuse to respond to you when you write to them, then they say they will get back to you and nearly three months later they still don't respond. The Victorian Vet Board is supposed to protect you from incompetent and useless Vets, but as the other reviewer says, the Vet board is only there to protect its mates, I believe they are accountable to the Victorian Government so why does the Victorian Government ignore complaints about the Vet Board itself? The Vet Board does not care how much proof you have that shows that a Vet is incompetent, I asked the Victorian Vet Board the following, "Does the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria believe it is acceptable for a Vet to provide unprofessional expert opinions, particularly when it is shown that those opinions were grossly incorrect. Or that it is acceptable for a Vet to give expert opinions when the pet had already been in the care of a third party for nearly a month without any prior Vet care or even worse when the worst Vet I have ever heard of, gives expert opinions nearly 5 months after the facts, without even having seen one of the pups." No surprise no answer from them. It was because of false reports from these incompetent Vets that my poor Vet was hauled before his Vet Board in QLD, fortunately in the end it was found that he had not done anything wrong, so why weren't the Victorian Vets that made these false allegations punished? Because the Victorian Vet Board is a toothless tiger that has no idea on how to do the right thing. So basically don't waste your time complaining about a Vet with the Victorian Vet Board unless you prefer hobbies like watching paint dry or watching grass grow. If I could give minus 10 stars I would, as the way the Victorian Vet board handles complaints deserves that."
"Don't waste your time with vet board Being vets they all stick together no matter what proof you have I should have taken advice from others who used vet board telling"
