About the Business
Welcome to The Theatre On Chester, a vibrant institution located in Epping, Australia. Situated on Chester Street, our establishment is a point of interest for theater enthusiasts and performers alike.
If you have any questions about bookings, please feel free to reach out to our dedicated Box Office team. You can contact them via email at boxoffice@theatreonchester.com.au. In case you are unable to reach us directly, please leave a clear message on our answering service, and someone from our team will get back to you as soon as possible. Kindly note that it may take a day or two for us to respond.
At The Theatre On Chester, we take pride in presenting exceptional performances featuring additional materials by renowned individuals such as Hunter Foster, Eric Price, and Sandy Rustin. These materials have been adapted from the Paramount Pictures film written by Jonathan Lynn and the iconic board game from HASBRO inc. Prepare to be entertained by a production that is as mad and exciting as you imagine it to be.
Our cast includes a diverse range of characters who are brought to life by outstanding actors. From the traditional British butler, Wadsworth, who is the driving force of the play, to the hilariously stereotypical French maid, Yvette, and the dry and sardonic Miss Scarlet, each character adds their own unique flavor to the performance. The cast also includes memorable personalities such as the neurotic Mrs. Peacock, the morbid Mrs. White, the pompous Colonel Mustard, the arrogant Professor Plum, the timid Mr. Green, and the slick Mr. Boddy.
We have a series of performances scheduled from 1st to 25th November, with preview shows on 1st November and the official opening on 3rd November. Some performances will take place at 5pm, while others will be at 8pm. Cast members are required to arrive one hour prior to the show. The Theatre on Chester is conveniently located at the corner of Chester and Oxford Streets in Epping, a short 5-minute walk from Epping station. Street parking outside the theater is generally easy to find.
Rehearsals for the production will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm, with additional rehearsals closer to the performance dates. A full rehearsal schedule will be provided during the first reading on 22nd August. If you have any prior commitments that may clash with rehearsal dates, please inform us during auditions.
Speaking of auditions, please let us know your preferred audition day and time when you book. If you have no preference, kindly inform us, as it will help with timetabling. When attending auditions, please bring along your CV, headshot, script, and a completed application form in hard copy.
At The Theatre on Chester, we operate as a community theater, which means none of our cast or crew members are paid. However, we believe in showing our appreciation by providing tea, coffee, biscuits, occasional pizzas, and, of course, lots of rapturous applause! To participate in the production, actors will need to become members of The Theatre on Chester, with a membership fee of $10 per year.
We also kindly request assistance from cast members for set building on Saturday mornings from 9am to 1pm. Additionally, we ask that cast members stay for 5-10 minutes after each show to help the stage manager close up, and the front of house team pack up chairs, ensuring a smooth and efficient process. Lastly, the Tuesday evening following the final performance is set to be a breakdown day, and any help from the cast would be greatly appreciated.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Theatre On Chester, where passion, talent, and creativity come together to create unforgettable theatrical experiences.

Reviews
"Good local community theartre. Good quality shows that are reasonably priced"
"These guys work really hard to ensure that professional productions are given and that’s not just the acting alone. The set work, the lighting, the sound and the behind the scenes admin stuff is quality ensured. You see, there is great stuff north of Strathfield and the inner west - you just got to dig a little, buy a subscription and reap the rewards."
"Such amazing set design, and actors that really draw you in to the story! A hidden gem!"
"This place has a very friendly warm atmosphere. Usually high quality theatre performs here and we always enjoy spending time here. Absolutely love it."
"This theatre has 3 brilliant productions a year . Need to book as nearly all sessions fill up quickly particularly the matinees. Excellent value as they offer complementary coffee , tea & cold drinks at all intervals"
