"My experience is my own opinion. My partner and I rented from Meriton at their Chevron 811 South Dowling Street location from September 2020 until a few weeks ago. Here’s my experience: Firstly, if polite and friendly building management is what you’re after, turn around and walk out the door. You will not find it here and will certainly be made to feel unwelcome. When we took possession of the property the inspection report asserted all things were in good clean order and working. However at a cursory glance you could tell the premises had not been thoroughly cleaned or repaired, with paint chipping on nearly every windowsill and skirting board. Of course not mentioning the 4cm hole in the laundry door. Carpet in the apartment was poorly laid and most definitely not cleaned prior to taking possession. We cleaned the carpets ourselves and found a colour of water we didn’t know existed. Foul is an understatement. Air conditioners in the apartment were full of black mould and had not seen the clean side of a rag in some time. When raised with Building Management, a disgruntled facilities staff came to the premises and superficially cleaned the units, leaving them full of mould still. When we complained about the unsatisfactory work, the facilities staff returned and said that it was fine. I asked the man if he’d be happy for his family to live in this place with mould. He grumbled on and finally cleaned the air conditioners like requested. Some time later and for many weeks there was a water leakage outside our apartment in the common corridor. Nothing was done except wet vacuuming the water away when it was too saturated, which eventually sprouted mushrooms/fungi - in the carpet… (see picture) As the lease continued we received numerous generic sharply worded emails sent to all tenants explicitly stating anyone in breach of “the rules” would have their lease terminated. Expect about 2-3 per week depending on who has slightly inconvenienced the Building Manager. Appliances were dated and breaking down. When we logged maintenance requests to have the dishwasher fixed we received no confirmation from building management they would fix it. After another 2 months of silence, we followed up politely only to receive the building managers “award winning service” and told to wait. Shortly after our follow up, Meriton issued us a rental arrears notice despite only being a day outside the normal pay cycle - uncanny coincidence. Fortunately we enjoyed some peace for a time after this. Until our lease expired with Meriton refusing to consider another fixed term lease, putting us onto a periodic agreement. Fast forward to August 2022. Out of nowhere we were issued with a no-grounds termination notice with 90 days. Zero explanation from Meriton or Building Management as to why - when enquired of the building manager, we were told “the landlord wants the property” which is curious, since Meriton was the landlord. On reflection, the only conclusion was that we were being evicted because they wanted more rent than they could reasonably increase our rent by year on year. All of this stress, so Meriton Corporation shareholders can have a bigger payday. Cool and normal. Ultimately we like many others had to vacate and move back in with family, lest we face homelessness. The ordeal was stressful and disruptive to both my partner and I, impacting our ability to study our degrees and affecting our mental health. If you’re considering renting from Meriton, reconsider and look elsewhere."
"Over priced market manipulators! These apartments were $650 6 months ago and now they are $850 for the same apartment. They blame the market returning - no it isn’t, your apartments are 100% rentals and half are vacant. Don’t bother renting here, they increased my rent 25%"
"Having been a tenant of Meriton for 4 years now, I can confidently say that I would recommend living here based off the experience the Building Manager Deanne provides. On every occasion where I have needed help (including but not limited to: fixing microwave, gaining access to my unit, understanding lease terms), Deanne has responded swiftly and in a concise manner. Secondary to that, her standard with regard to the buildings upkeep certainly doesn’t go unnoticed. Deanne, thank you for everything you do. The community here sincerely appreciates it."

"Chevron Building Manager Deanne is an absolute disgrace. I have never experienced someone so rude, unhelpful and completely unprofessional in my life. Someone needs to remind her that her job is customer service - not going out of her way to make things difficult so she can satisfy some desperate need for a power trip. The way she treated myself and my partner as well as a friend of ours while we made multiple attempts trying to pick up a spare key which had been organised and paid for was disgusting. Multiple complaints to Meriton head office with promises of a call back to discuss this issue went unanswered hence why I am now leaving this review. AVOID renting at Chevron so you don’t have to deal with this nasty and rude person as well as a company that doesn’t seem to care."
