"I was referred to Dr Jon, a South African, by a South African. I respect the knowledge and ability of South African professionals. After viewing the website I thought WOW great vet. You see photos of pets being kissed and hugged. You read the copy which is what one wants to hear and it is great, for example, - Modern medicine and latest equipment - Treat your pet like we would treat our own - Specialist services available one of which is Ultrasound I book an appointment over the phone which they then called to say can I make it an hour later. Eager to see Dr Jon for our 8 year old feline who is having a number of issues, I say sure. 5 hrs or so before the appointment on that day we get an email saying he prefers not to see our feline and we should continue with the existing vet. This was a shock, as a person I came to respect from his many reviews and well worded website showing care and love for pets, lacked the back bone and resolve to state why he took that decision. Knowing DrJon to be exceptionally competent from what I heard and read, I called to speak to him to see how can an appointment be cancelled just like that without giving any reasons, especially after correspondence was emailed to him and I spoke to his staff on numerous occasions. They said they will see if he can speak to me. They came back and said he is busy assisting in an orthopedic operation and he will call me after the operation. I said I look forward to his call. I then get a call from his staff to say he is unable to treat out cat or even talk to me as: 1. He knows nothing about the Super Loren capsule - I said ok but all he has to do is call the suppliers and get an answer to one question I was asking. Surely a great vet would be eager to learn about current treatments and keep their knowledge updated. Seems this is not the case for Dr Jon. 2. Ultrasound that was a selling feature on his website was downgraded to ‘we need to Book a Specialist to come in’ as opposed to Dr Jon seeing our cat and then saying let’s get treatment underway & if ultrasound is needed we will get it booked in. 3. Reading ‘Modern medicine & the latest equipment’ on the website is just advertising puffery. In todays world the latest equipment (even though say 10 or so years old) Catscans fit that category … Guess what he said as our cat may need a catscan he thinks we stick with our existing vet. His defeatist attitude, his lack of will to want to update his knowledge, his approach to downplaying ultrasound & catscans as not being a able to be done spontaneously and his lack of resolve to actually call me, I would be cautious about what his website states. Extremely disappointed in this experience and it leaves me to lower my expectation in a South African professional. I suppose the silver lining is I found a 24 hour vet that is the leader in its field for - Modern medicine and latest equipment - Treat your pet like we would treat our own - Specialist services available I ADD THIS SECTION IN TO MY REVIEW AFTER READING DR JON’S REPLY TO MY REVIEW. His reply shows he is not genuine & that he is all about advertising puffery and not a genuine caring vet. He says he did not speak to me or see our cat. That is correct. My point is what vet would not speak to a person who is concerned about their cat, especially after numerous emails and calls to his practice to confirm an appointment. All I wanted was the facts why he cancelled the appointment and declined our cat as a patient. He justifies me writing a review as validation to decline our cat as a client. Brave up and call me and let me know the real reason. Instead he got his staff to lie about the reason why he cancelled the appointment. All he had to do was call me as agreed and tell me the truth. A vet asking others to lie on his behalf is not a vet to trust… also borne out by the advertising puffery on his website. I AWAIT YOUR CALL AS TO THE REAL REASON WHY YOU CHOSE NOT TO SEE AND CARE FOR OUR CAT… or does your weak character choose to hide behind your staff"

"Dr Jon is the best vet we have ever had. He has treated two of our dogs, Ace and Bluebell and his advice is always trustworthy, dependable and kind. He works very hard to keep costs down, unlike other vets we’ve had. We recommend him all the time and are very happy with the great service he provides."
