"Chef Hide's new hidden gem of a restaurant will imminently become one of Sydney's brightest sushi stars Transitioning out of takeout to a sit down restaurant now, it is quite a simple value proposition: fresh high quality seafood prepared by an experienced team at a fair and uninflated price Simple and delicious, let the ingredients and skills do the talking Get in and try it now before it will only be accessible through a waiting list queue"
"I recently tried the newly opened Japanese restaurant, drawn in by the promise of specialized and high-quality dishes, despite their limited menu. Unfortunately, the experience was a letdown. It seems that the restaurant was understaff or the chef was taking his time to prepare the food and chatted incessantly with a patron. The dishes failed to live up to expectations, both in terms of taste and value. The prices were disproportionately high for the lackluster quality provided. The most concerning issue was the presence of bones in the sashimi, which not only marred the eating experience but also posed a potential safety hazard. The sashimi cuts were disappointingly thin, missing the mark when it comes to showcasing the rich flavors that Japanese cuisine is known for. To make matters worse, the restaurant opted for a subpar powdered wasabi, instead of using the real thing, compromising the authenticity of the dishes. The California roll was far from enjoyable and the "extra" crab cake turned out to be untreated and tough. I guess it’s to make up for the tamago which is apparently missing from roll and iceberg lettuce replaced cucumber. A definite let down with this rendition of a Cali roll. Adding to the underwhelming experience, the decor lacked any memorable character or ambiance. All things considered, I cannot recommend this restaurant to others seeking a genuine Japanese dining experience. The shortcomings, including the subpar sashimi, thin cuts, cheap wasabi, disappointing California roll, untreated crab cake, and uninspiring decor, combined to create a lackluster visit. It's disappointing when a new establishment falls short of expectations, and I hope they take steps to improve the overall quality in the future. Oh and it’s a BYO. no alcohol sold."
"Amazing new place in Surry Hills. The freshest sashimi so beautifully presented and masterfully cut, the soy being so light to not spoil the delicate flavours of the seafood. The agedashi tofu was way above average, nothing overpowering with a perfect balance of flavours ending with a slight sweetness. The tempura was the best I've had outside of Japan with it's thin crisp coating covering the perfectly cooked seafood and vegetables. Absolutely delicious. Great service too. Highly recommend. BYO"
"Celebrated a birthday at Sushi Hide last night, really good experience. The sashimi were sooooo fresh, love the sea urchin bomb, tuna yukke and kingfish head grill! One of my son has various allergies and they even came up with a custom made chicken dish for him has no gluten, diary or egg in it, really appreciated the effort! Will definitely go back and recommend to all of families and friends!"
"This was one of the nicest sushi sets we've had in Sydney. The seafood was so fresh and the cut was generous. 10/10. Very good value for the price"
