Reviews of Warrandyte Goldfields B & B
"Feb 2023. We were was asleep the owner/lady came into the room the middle of the night about 2 am and drew the curtains. So weird. It woke us up. I freaked out. I can't stop thinking about it. Our adult kid was in the other room asleep. She went in through that room first, through the adjoining bathroom to our room, drew the curtains and exited via the lounge area and left the bathroom light on. Why would someone do that to guests? We had come in late, gone straight to sleep, never made any noise. The next morning whilst having coffee we all remembered it in the night. No we had not dreamed it. We found a discreet staircase behind the kitchen leading upstairs to their house. Thats how she got in. As we left the next morning, we saw her staring down at us from her kitchen window. OMG never again."
"We booked here but had to cancel. We privately paid a small deposit which is being refunded in full. The owner also answered all our questions promptly by email. Wish I could say more about the accommodation - will hopefully stay in the future."
"Very clean and spacious. Owner is very friendly and kind. Very close to the main road where shops, cafes are however it feels like you are in a forest, such an amazing location. I highly recommend it."
"I first came to Whipstick Gully to run abseiling sessions with students but these days, I'm a local and it's only 400m from my front door. I'll often go for a stroll in and out of the park through the many paths, tracks and footpads created by animals. The walking is easy and if you have a pram, you can bring that along too. Not too hard, especially if a 3 wheeler. There are a few mines you can visit and there will be interpretation signs and information boards around. There are maps you can download from the internet as there isn't an onsite Information Centre (although the Info Centre is about 100m away from the entrance to Whipstick Gully Road). It would be hard to get lost but do take your phone and water with you. Good footwear is essential as this is an old gold mining area and the rocks are somewhat 'rocky' and unstable. Best place to start is at Whipstick Gully Road - park the car in the carpark and look at the signs to orientate yourself. There is not food, water, bins etc. once you start exploring. Once back in Yarra Street there is all of that. Please respect the signs about rubbish, entering old mines etc. Stay on the tracks where possible. This is not wheelchair friendly. Parking is plentiful. Note it is a State Park so please abide by the rules of the park."
