Reviews of Mercure Melbourne Albert Park
"The beds are uncomfortable and it's always hot in the room. The pool is way to warm to the point it smells like sweat all the time. The food they serve is not good at all. Have never at more than half the plate."
"The staff at Mecure Alberts Park were the worst I have ever encountered. When I arrived late at night on June 17th, Joyce, a woman who seemed to be from the Philippines, checked me in. Her attitude was rude and unhelpful, especially considering that I had back-to-back bookings. She instructed me to check out and check back in again, which was fine, but she did not provide clear instructions on how to find my room or which lift to use. I ended up carrying my 20+ kg luggage around the hotel trying to find my room, and I was exhausted by the time I finally arrived. To make matters worse, Joyce forgot to return my ID and bank card after check-in registration, and I had to wait until 7:00 am the next day for a hotel staff member to return them to me. Overall, my stay was ruined by her unprofessional behavior. In addition to this, the room I stayed in was unsatisfactorily clean, with visible stains on the carpet and a bathroom that did not feel fresh. The hotel also charged an exorbitant $45 fee for on-site parking, which was disappointing and should have been included in the room rate or offered at a more reasonable price. The Wi-Fi connection was also inconsistent, which made it difficult for me to stay connected and get work done during my stay. Lastly, the sound insulation was poor, and I could hear a baby crying all night from the room next door, which made it hard to get a good night's sleep. If you're willing to pay nearly AUD $200 per night to be treated like a prisoner, then this hotel may be able to provide that experience."
"We had a nice stay. Room and the bathroom were clean. The bed was quite comfy. Although, it was interesting that the dental kit wasn’t available without a request. And… weren’t a fan of a long wait at the reception!"
"Overall it's a really good hotel. The room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. The staff were great in all departments. However, their policy and pricing for parking is downright extortionate. They offered $25 to self park which is reasonable, but the cunning twist is it's for 24hrs OR 1st exit. As I had to go to a meeting a few hours after I checked in, it meant my $25 parking fee expired after I drive out of the carpark to go to to my meeting. And I'd have to pay another $25 to self park when I'm back from my meeting. Absolutely ridiculous and clearly a blatant money grab. They offered me a full valet parking service for $45 which includes coming and going as many times as I like, so I went for that. It's insane that self parking is more expensive than valet parking. I overheard several other guests voicing their amazement and disbelief at this policy at reception while waiting for them to bring my car up. This must be addressed by the hotel before I consider staying here again."
"Overall I had a great stay at this hotel. I would especially like to thank Swasti for her help with the check in. She was very friendly and helpful. I want to thank Richard (concierge) for all his help, including booking the excursions and the extra good tips he gave. The advice / tips regarding public transport have also helped me a lot. In addition, he was just nice and friendly. I would like to thank Vivi (and her colleagues in the kitchen) for the excellent breakfast that I enjoyed every day. This was (one of) the best breakfasts I've had in all my years of travelling. Extensive choices and the hot food was actually warm. Unfortunately have I often experienced the breakfast differently (cold/not warm). Finally, I would like to thank Linda for helping me a lot with the situation that my neighbor was smoking in his room! She really took the time to listen to me."
