"Rooms were clean, bed comfortable but bring everything. No spare pillows, blankets or anything. Room service call went unanswered every time. Long waits in the restaurant. Waited an hour for wait staff to take order, over an hour to get food, which they got wrong and we had to go up & ask for it. Devoid of atmosphere and decor. Felt empty and dark. There was no comfortable feeling of wanting to stay."
"The full review! Room: Room needed the carpet replaced as it was very worn out and dated. Room was clean and fresh. TV wasn't great. Old TV system. No foxel or anything unlike the pullman on swanston Street which had everything and lots of options. Loved the soft comfy dressing gowns too. Coffee station was great as well! Bathroom: was very clean. Shower pressure was good. However! Water temperature fluctuated alot which was very annoying. Bed: Comfy bed but again the pullman on swanston was way better. Bed linen wasn't great. Felt like hospital bed linen. definitely need to invest in some 1k thread bed linen. Foyer and facilities: Dated pool- needs a new one. Gym looked great. Main foyer and reception was awesome. Service: Staff are always happy and very caring and helpful. No faults. Conclusion: Dated hotel with great facilities. Needs a fresh look. Otherwise was a great stay."
"The room was lovely overlooking Albert Park, but unfortunately that’s where the experience ended on a positive note. The breakfast was totally inedible. Waited 20 mins for buffet to be topped up all food was cold, tasteless and needless to say we ended up eating in a cafe in the CBD. Not the standard you would expect at a 5* hotel at all."
"Noisy, dated room. Reception staff seem to be either incompetent and or untrained. Finally, I have now discovered minibar charges have been added to my final invoice ( trust me, the dust covered chocolate bar and old packet of chips ensured nothing in the 'minibar' was consumed)."
"Restaurant was shut for March due to impending grand prix (but only advised of this on check-in) so had to hope to find a table in the crowded bar area to dine which was not easy. Not many dining options in the vicinity otherwise - for a 3 night stay that was tricky. We were on the top/executive floor but felt very much forgotten due to noisy staff and preparations on our floor most days switching track view rooms to grand prix viewing rooms. I do not recommend the location unless you are attending the grand prix or something else in Albert Park. Many tram stops from Melbourne CBD on a very busy highway. As Accor members we found the rooms tired, dusty and dated. Room clearly wasn't checked before our arrival so basics from body lotion to mini bar milk and wine glasses were not provided and the rooms were quite dusty. Not being able to dine in the restaurant really goes against why we are members. Strong smell of chlorine from indoor ground floor pool - including in bar area (where we had no choice but to dine) was off-putting. I think this 5 star hotel should change its ranking to 4 star to prevent disappointment. The staff service we did encounter was good. To clarify the grand prix did not commence until our day of departure though we had to put up with the preparations and disruptions in advance for the entirety of our stay. Also we paid for a park view room/suite but got a room with a view of the next door roof as they were clearly saving the park view rooms for grand prix viewing rooms."
