"We would have stayed outside of Sydney in Hornsby for considerably less cost, but everything was booked out. So reluctantly we booked online through Traveluro, $189 for a twin room and on my credit card they added another $5.67 for overseas taxation fee. The room was clean but small and we could hear conversation and doors closing in the adjoining rooms. They wanted to charge an extra $20 for parking so I left the car on the street for free. Buffet breakfast would have cost another $26.50 each so we went to McDonald's."
"I stayed at Mercure Sydney Manly Warringah for 3 nights (July 1 - July 4 2023) with my sister. It was the worst experience in my life. My husband arranges all our travel but sadly he passed away 2 months earlier. He was a avid supporter of Manly. As he had prepaid for the motel room, I decided I would still make the trip and stay at the Mercure and watch the Manly game at Brookvale Oval. At check-in the concierge was rude and arrogant. He demanded a photo ID of my husband and would not allow me to check-in until he saw ID. After explaining to him about my husband, he showed no empathy and told me to sit in the lobby and contact the booking agent to change the name on the booking to mine. At this point I was upset and instead paid for another room as I had just traveled from New Zealand earlier that day. The lady that served me was much nicer to deal with. Luckily I was able to contact the booking agent later for a full refund. On arrival at the room, I found it to be dull and dated. The bathroom was not very clean with a large dirty shoe print left on the tiles. Although the bed was comfortable it had a large stain on the mattress. There was no dishwashing liquid which would be handy to have a clean cup for coffee in the morning. We could have been notified about the construction noise going on outside despite it being the weekend. On gameday when I asked at the front desk information about the best route to the game, I was met with a noticeable eye-roll from another rude man. I will not be returning to the Mercure in future as unfortunately this experience has left a bad impression on what should have been a memorable visit."
"Thought I'd add our experience being pleasantly surprised given some of the reviews on here. The room was clean, well set out and the bed was very comfortable. Not the flashiest amenities but nothing broken, there were no bad smells (like I've read), and had everything we needed for an easy stay. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful."
"I booked this hotel for business purpose, the hotel is situated in a prime location. Close to business hub and other amenities such shopping, walking/running tracks. Staff are friendly, accommodating, and polite. We were looked after appropriately. Carpark is offered which is very convenient. Rooms are quite, offers the basic necessity, some things are old and tired, but still well kept."
"Booked the standard queen room as we had an event in Sydney. Reception staff were nice and location good for football games. Cheap accommodation but don’t be fooled. Bed wasn’t made properly, as soon as we got into the bed all the sheets came off! We could hear everything and everyone that walked past and had a view of the entrance to the car park! Room doesn’t look anything like the website , it’s outdated and dirty. Room also had a weird stench. Paid for a “buffet” breakfast , another mistake. Eggs were disgusting and cold, fruit was bruised and old and not a great variety for what you pay. Kindly asked the person working the buffet if they had any other options for eggs we got no response and he ran off never returning with an answer. As a silver Accor member I was absolutely appalled at the quality of the hotel, having stayed in a variety around Australia. Should have listened to the other reviews I won’t be staying here again."
