Welcome to Strokestown Park House & Gardens, a renowned Irish heritage site located in the picturesque town of Strokestown, Co. Roscommon. Our institution is home to one of the finest Georgian mansions in the country, set amongst 300 acres of stunning parkland and gardens.
Built in the 1730s by the Pakenham Mahon family, Strokestown Park House is a testament to the opulence and elegance of the Irish aristocracy of the time. The house has been beautifully preserved, and today visitors can experience the grandeur and splendor of the Georgian era, with beautifully appointed rooms decorated in period style.
In addition to the house, our extensive gardens and parklands are also a highlight of the institution. Visitors can wander through the stunning walled gardens, which include a herb garden, a rose garden, and a vegetable garden. The gardens also feature a lake, a river, and a children’s playground, making it the perfect place for families to spend the day.

Reviews of Strokestown Park House & Gardens
"Fantastic visitor attraction, the house tour was brilliant with a friendly guide. The national Famine Museum is both fascinating and heart breaking. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The cafe serves tasty food and all the staff were very friendly and helpful."
"Wonderful museum and the gardens are gorgeous. Lovely walking trails. Staff are extremely friendly."
"The Park's House has been opened after an extensive refurbishment and it's spectacular. The fairy woodland walk and Victorian Gardens are a treat too. The House now also boasts a cafe and gift shop with the entrance akin to that of a five star hotel. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating for families. Can't wait to go back again."
"Visited the gardens one March and even out of season they were very nice. Seemed like a bit of work to be done here and there, but I recommend going."
"Only the Gardens open as all these Houses are not open until July due to Covid restrictions. The Gardens are in the old type of Country Houses . The layout I believe back 300 years to the original design. Discriptions throughout & they tell one about the gardens. I thought there could have been more Flowers but given the weather its limited .Will return when House open in July."
