"Always patients on beds Have spent many a night there myself Staff can be cantankerous but they have a heavy schedule and are understaffed I get a room by myself usually due to being immunosuppressed post liver transplant and having cystic fibrosis"
"Disappointment. Long story but make sure you read it . I had my baby girl in Castlebar maternity ward. She was struggling breathing when she was born she had low oxygen levels. Doctor said it’s just amniotic fluid, but I known it wasn’t as my older son had it and he was just sick. I took my daughter next day home. She was getting worst every day her breathing just wasn’t right and our Gp just didn’t want to check her up “coz of Covid”, so I took her to Castlebar hospital. They did absolutely nothing just checked her oxigen levels and let us stay over night. Couple days letter our local nurse camed for routine check up to our home. Straight away she called ambulance even Garda has camed to make us way to hospital, that bad was my little baby. We stay over night they did some check ups n said we need ENT specialist. They didn’t said where to find one. We came home n situation got worst my daughter wasn’t able to breathe and get blue Luckily somehow we managed that night . I was so desperate so I started to look for private ENT specialist. When I reached one n he heard my baby’s breathing on phone he told us to take her to Crumlin Our laddie’s Hospital. We did as he said and my daughter was given oxygen straight away. Then she was seen by amazing ENT specialist and had surgery after 3 days . That’s the way they saved my babies life. After surgery she was on NG tube and CPAP. Big THANK YOU TO CRUMLIN OUR LADIES HOSPITAL and SHAME TO MAYO UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL CASTLEBAR"
"Filthy, smelly place, blood on the floor. Saw things I'll never forget, lack of any urgency to patients arriving in distress. Only 2 doctors attend at night compared with 6 from 7am onwards."
"I had to wait more than 9 hours and was going to wait another 4 hours. I struggled breathing properly. Instead of checking my throat or chest out they gave me a covid test just for me to wait 13 hours to come back as negative. But by then I had already left to go get checked my by local gp in ballina as it was already morning by then. Then called me to ask me where I was when reception told me to do as I please. I had already tested myself for covid after I left for reassurance because I know it doesn't take 9 to 13 hrs for results. I understand things are busy but they could've reassured us or gave us update or just even interacted with us to make sure we were okay because all of us were in pain and were forced to sleep in the cold on them uncomfortable chairs."
"0 stars. Don't get injured if you're in mayo. Bad cut to face, tried GP as closer. Needed a lot of stitches so he sent us to A&E. After 6 hours in A&E was sent home without stitches."
