"When you make it to the saddle, it’s a great spot to catch your breath for the big stair climb ahead. The views across Mayo and Clew bay are spectacular."
"It kind of levels off at this point and it has very basic and not very clean toilet facilities, but you wouldn't expect anything else halfway up a mountain."
"It's been 12 years since I climbed Croagh Patrick. Last time I did it barefoot but with kids I wasn't gonna chance it. We had a stunning day. We chose to go late to avoid the larger crowds. Still plenty of people but easier climb when it's not a queue. The views are as spectacular as ever. The sheep are very friendly. I was really impressed with the amount of support for climbers with a helicopter doing sweeps to ensure everyone was safe. I think everyone should do the climb at least once. It's challenging but definitely manageable. We passed a man in his 70s doing it barefoot, cool as a cucumber."
"Magical & breath taking view from the top, if you get a clear day like we did. It's a tough climb, but boy, it is so worth it when you get to the top! Strongly recommend to use two walking sticks, especially for when you descend. Would love to do it again."
"Very tough climb, rent a stick, wear proper hiking boots. Water essential. Probably need 4 hours to complete. Worth it though, views on the way up and down spectacular. Have to go back as was cloudy at the summit."
