"My Grandmother taught lace making here in the 1920's. "Marcella Scanlon". She had come from Ballydahob, in Co. Cork. She travelled from Cork to Ballina by train, and out to Carrowteigue, on a pony and trap. She met my Grandfather who was a Garda in Rossport. "Andrew McManus". There's still a record of their marriage in Cornboy Catholic Church. My Grandfather who was a native of Cavan resigned from the Gardai after getting married and they both returned to his native "Lavey, Co. Cavan " where they reared their family."
