"This review is for the gym. The hotel and the pool are fantastic. However, the gym is quite disappointing. Old rusty equipment, not enough free weights. Only have one pair of each type of weight. Plenty of dust and hairs on the gym floor. Not properly clean. It’s been months and the out of order machines are not fixed. For the membership fee they charge, you would expect a little bit better. Poorly maintained gym."
"We popped into the Shearwater just after noon on 23 December for a quick bite to eat and a rest from Christmas shopping. We had delicious salads and beautiful coffees served by staff who couldn't have been friendlier. This is a smart hotel for weddings and conferences which also hosts country music and dancing weekends and the menu reflects this, but the staff of the hotel's Canal Bar made us feel like their most important customers."
"Lovely hotel, spacious and clean. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Food In the restaurant is tasty and plenty with great choices on the menu. Pool and gym use is included in your stay as a resident which is a very nice touch. Highly recommended!"
"Great location as we walked the 20 minutes from the train station Its located right in the town next to many shops Nice reception area with beautiful foyer and seating areas Delicious dinner in the canal bar. Breakfast was ok.... The rooms were lovely and spacious... The leisure club was a bonus and we had a good swim although the steam room and cold shower were out of order unfortunately. We had a package at the spa which was tastefully decorated with an enjoyable relaxation room.. Treatments were good and very helpful staff.... All in all a very pleasant stay."
"Myself and my two sisters booked a night away in the Shearwater Hotel. The hotel is spotless throughout. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. But really what made this hotel is the staff. They are very helpful and professional. It is a four star hotel and the staff work hard at keeping up the standard. Would definitely go back."
